Early Access Review
Yes, as of writing, it's near on six years of early access. 18 major version updates. Over this time The Fun Pimps have not been shy to push the Early Access moniker and try many different approaches to the genre, sometimes finding things that work and sometimes not so much. Either way, this is not a stagnant title, it's actively worked on and loved.

For the game, well you're looking at multiple things that want you dead. During the day and more so at night. You can cower in one of the many abandoned buildings or make your own block by block. Be careful though, this isn't minecraft, you are under structural limitations on what you build, push the limits to far and you'll be under a pile of rubble. Oh and those zombies will happily punch through your walls to get at you.

Fortunately you can explore the world for loot to aid your survival, learn skills from found books or gain XP through killing and building to buy into specific skill trees. A basic questing supplied by the many traders on the map give you come additional challenges and rewards to earn.

Don't forget though, every 7 days you'll face the blood moon calling on the ever increasing zombie hordes out for your blood and no matter the traps or tricks you employ, only lots of bullets will see you through to dawn.

While there is no workshop so far, the game does contain some in-game configuration of game rules, you can play a pre-built map or generate a random one to explore. Externally people can and do modify the deeper game rule files to bring different experiences and other neat tricks to the vanilla experience. Hopefully once this reaches full release workshop support will make this more accessible.

This tends to go on sale for £8 and is a steal at that price if you like survival games. Just be aware that starting out can be tough, try and loot fast to get some weapons, food and meds then get a base. But NEVER stop building up those defences!
