I was scared, alone, wet, tired. Sitting in my trench listening to bullets whistle past my position only to be stopped by the bodies on my men, my friends, fathers, brothers, sons, soldiers and I thought that was the worst of it, until I heard the roar of the flames, bright orange like the sun, red like blood gushing over my position catching my friends burning them alive. It seemed to go on forever, until, it stopped just like that, not a word was spoken, no screams could be heard I wondered if they had left or if we had won, it wasn't till I heard the following words that my deepest fears had come alive and still gives me nightmares till today. The quietness was broken by a sharp and energetic voice shouting "G'day mate!"

10/10. Would put another Shrimp on the barbie
