Do you like pain? Do you like RNG? do you have masochistic tendencies? Do you like turn-based combat? Do you like to lose all hope and walk into the gates of madness? Do you like to be beaten to the ground and then being spit just to get up and fight again? Then this is your game.

Darkest dungeon is an unfair turn-based roguelike strategy game in which you must restore your ancestor's town to its former glory while also trying to fend off beasts, bandits, mutated entites, blood drinkers, cristalyzed foes and crazy fanatics while also trying to kill an eldrich horror that your ancestor woke in search of power.

The game is trated by players as unfair. But, in reality, the game is all about trying to make the best out of the worst possible situation. You will level up your heroes, spend thousands of gold to improve their skills and reinforce their weapons and armor, and even more just to see them die to a crazy man, to the lack of food, to the pressure of the dungeon, to bleeding, to poison, to a spider or even to a maggot. All is against you, and you are against all.

The game makes you manage your heroes, level up town facilities and also manage a very important resource: STRESS. Stress is the element that makes the game hard for most of the unexperienced players. Stress inducing enemies will increase the stress bar of your heroes, once it reaches 100 points, their resolve will be tested. Will their be virtous and temper their fears? or will they become afflicted, stressing the party or worse, and sucumb to despair? Even worse, If you fail to keep it down and reach the FINAL mark of 200 stress points, your hero will have a heart attack! reaching 0 hp (deaths door) and suffering detrimental hits to their stats.

The pain and rng of the base game is worsened by the two DLCs that the game offers. The Crimsom Court (CC) includes a new area, new bosses, new mminibosses and worse. A new disease. The foes of the courtyard will start invading other dungeons and facing you when you least expect it. Making your exploration more difficult. And, if you don't dare to enter the courtyard for a long time, all your stress healing in town less efective. Forcing you to face your fears and go into the bloody roads of the courtyard.

The other DLC, The Colour of Madness (CoM) also includes a new area, new foes, new bosses and the endless mode, where you kill hordes and hordes of enemies until you can't deal with them anymore. Go into the crash zone of a meteorite and face the thing from the stars. All madness becomes bearable when you trade shards, a new currency, for other relics to equip to your heores.

In addition, the game released a free update called The Butcher's Circus, which is a player versus player arena where all heroes are available as well as lots of equipments to mix and match. Skills are maxed and they matter! Choose your party wisely and face against other players in the madness of the arena. For Honor and Glory!

Overall, Darkest Dungeon is a solid game. While pain and rage inducing in some cases, It rewards patience, cautiousness and leearning the game mechanincs. If you love challenges, this is your game.
