This Review is Dedicated to the Working Class Woman

What can I say about Disco Elysium that hasn't been said before? It is as good as everyone claims and more. It is, hands down, one of the greatest artistic pieces ever made.

Just know that this game was stolen from its creators, and there will never be a sequel. I bought this game before the theft occurred, and if you can get creative, you know what you should do. If you don't have the skills to be creative, then just get it, but be aware that none of the profit is going to the rightful owners. This is a game that needs to be experienced at least once, and it makes me sad to see just 0.1% of this world knowing I will never see more of it because of the thieves who stole this game. I’m so sorry, ZA/UM Team. You made a masterpiece, and I hope to see more projects from you soon.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but even with lower expectations, Cocoon would still be a boring puzzle game.

Having heard that one of the developers behind Inside & Limbo worked on Cocoon, I was excited. Inside is a masterpiece in my eyes, so I was eager to see what Cocoon had to offer. However, Cocoon turned out to be an overhyped, linear, top-down puzzle game that failed to engage me.

The music didn't interest me, the art style felt bland, and the puzzles were more tedious than challenging. Most of the puzzles involved tedious back & forth mechanics. While the bosses provided a brief change of pace, they too failed to add any significant interest.

After playing for about 100 minutes and realizing I had already completed 51% of the game, I was struck by the repetitive nature of the gameplay. I began to wonder if the rest of the game would just be more of the same. Checking other reviews, I found that most people seemed to enjoy Cocoon, which left me feeling surprised. Was I the only one who thought this game was bad? Despite my growing disinterest, I decided to finish the game to provide a fair critique. Two late game puzzles stood out as mildly interesting, but by then, it was too late to change my overall impression. By the time the credits rolled, I felt a sense of relief rather than satisfaction.

Curious about the connection to Playdead I looked into the involvement of the studio and discovered that Playdead had no role in the making of Cocoon. The game was the work of Jeppe Carlsen, the puzzle designer behind Inside and Limbo. However, what made Limbo and Inside so fascinating was not just the puzzles, but their cohesiveness. the atmosphere, immersive storytelling, and artistic direction. Cocoon lacked this cohesion and depth, feeling like a series of endless waves of puzzles rather than an interesting experience.

In Inside and Limbo, the puzzles, environment, music, and story all worked together to create a compelling and immersive experience. On the other hand, Cocoon felt like a tedious series of top-down puzzles without interesting environments or moments of wonder.

Cocoon made me wish I was playing Limbo or Inside instead. I did not find Cocoon enjoyable, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Before the Green Moon is an Uncut Diamond Covered in Mud

Disclaimer: I am not a farming sim enthusiast. The last farming sim I played seriously was Harvest Moon on the PS1.

Before the Green Moon is a charming and weird farming simulator that reminds me of Chulip. The goal is simple: buy tickets to the moon and leave the town where you start the game. It’s a short, 7 to 10 hours experience, with a quirky art style and nice music. I beat the game in one session. While it didn’t make me want to play other farming sims, it kept me engaged until I finished it.

While I enjoyed the game, it’s clear that it lacks polish. The developers seem aware of this, but it doesn’t diminish the experience too much. The atmosphere is what they aimed to deliver, and in that, they succeeded. However, the game feels like it could be so much better.

The narrative in the game is intriguing but feels aimless at points. It’s ambiguous but this ambiguity makes the message feels directionless, leaving you unsure if it’s trying to make a political statement, social commentary, satire, or a parody even.

I don’t want patches to add more to the game. It did what it set out to do well enough. What I really want is a sequel that is bigger and better, with more polish. I don’t need more complex mechanics; the simplicity is part of the charm. I just want more places to explore, more things to do, more items, and a bit more polish.

Halfway Writing This Review, I Realized I Was Reviewing Chulip and Not Moon

It took more than a year to write this review because I don’t know how to explain this game, but I will tell you to just play it. Even if you’re going to use a guide the whole game, just play it. A review will never do its justice.

I went into Moon with low expectations, mostly because I had a bad experience with another game by the same developer called Chulip.

Chulip was confusing, overly mean & difficult, and just didn't make sense. When Moon was re-released, I was expecting the worst. To my surprise, I absolutely loved it!

The music is great! The art styles are super unique. You get a mix of pixel art, Claymation, 3D, 2D graphics, and even realistic photos. The environmental design is equally excellent; everything is cute and fun to look at. Walking around and talking to NPCs is a joy, as they all have unique and funny ways of speaking. The game’s day and night cycle, along with the weekly cycle, is mind blowing for a 1997 PS1 game. The quests in Moon are some of the bests I've seen in any game. They’re witty, heartwarming, and very rewarding. Completing them leaves you with a good feeling. The ending is meta, fitting perfectly with the game’s overall theme.

Not everything is perfect. Some quests are random and depend on luck, like the fishing quest and the bird colour quest. There are also some moon logic quests, like having to fish a PS1 console out of a specific pond. How was I supposed to know there’s a console in there with no hints? Some puzzles are annoying to do.

Despite these issues, Moon is a beautiful game. I never thought I’d enjoy it as much as I did, especially after my experience with Chulip. After playing Moon, I even wanted to give Chulip another try, maybe I’ll like it more this time around.

Knuckle Sandwich is a Nothing Sandwich

Knuckle Sandwich falls flat on its face. From its dull storytelling to its frustrating gameplay, there's little to redeem this sorry excuse of an RPG.

The story is a joke, characters are hollow, and humor falls flat. Combat becomes a tedious painful chore. The pacing is the worst I've ever experienced in a game, dragging on endlessly without any sense of progression.

Despite all this, I'm not angry or wanting my time back. In fact, I'm grateful that Knuckle Sandwich exists and that I played it. It sets a new low bar for RPGs that I can use as a future comparison.

It's as if every decision was made with the intention of frustrating the players. Knuckle Sandwich is either the greatest RPG parody ever created or just impressively horrible.

I'm never harsh in my reviews, but this is the first time I've played a game with so much potential end up being this abysmal.

This game is seriously boring. The controls are clunky, and it just doesn't feel good to play. I thought about giving it another try in case something interesting happens, but from what I've read in other reviews, it only gets worse. I'm already not interested, and the thought of playing it again is painful.

One good thing I can say is that the character design and the environment are unique and fun to look at. This game might not be for me, but you might enjoy it.
