Out of every rougelike game I've played none have nailed the actual minute to minute gameplay as well as Enter the Gungeon. Be aware that there are no permanent upgrades for you character, but that is a good thing in my opinion. The main "progression" in the game is getting better at it. I've gone from dying on the first level to being able to regularly beat it. Although after 100+ hours I still haven't beat every optional objective.
