Early Access Review
Early trouble with coop lead to a few negatives.

However, so far the game is very relaxing, with nice soundtrack, beautiful graphics and pretty unique gameplay.
I'll update the review later with more details.

The game feels fun and one wants to create more, explore more, build more. So that core element is done already motivating, however people should know that as of writing, the game doesn't tell you too much. It's not super hidden, you can find out all the things, but it might be a bit less hand holding than some people are used to by now. However, we're talking about an early access game, so totally fair in my eyes.

So far, performance seams to be fine. Can't say it runs bad. Will need to see how it is with a big town.

Some things need work obviously. Like certain animations, the UI needs a bit of more work. Controlls like climbing need a bit more work.
Spiders early on need to be adjusted. The loss of health will leave you with a bumping heartbeat soundeffect. All sorts of small things that need to be polished etc. But that's what EA is about and looking at the passion the devs spend on this already, I see this game to become a great game. I already think it's unique terraforming gameplay makes it enjoyable and the creatures are already lovely. I'm not disappointed in the slightest so far.

At this point I would already recommend it. If I see points speaking against it, I'll update this review.

Amazing DLC. I had a lot of fun. There where a few bosses that were a bit too aggressive though. I used a spirit ash for one of them, but other than that, the DLC was fair and I had a lot of fun.
The world is amazing and overall it's at least as good as the base game.
Minus points for the horrible performance on a 3080. The base game runs much better, although the DLC patch did add some hiccups to the base game performance as well.

EXCEPT the final boss.

The final boss is just not fun and I had to use
a great shield with a spear and basically cheese it down. Felt zero reward but after 30 something tries with my regular build, I simply wanted to end this DLC in a positive mood. I felt no satisfaction with this final boss with my regular build (2-h weapon dex), because it didn't seam to bother this boss.

I highly recommend this DLC, but if you're in front of the final boss, just use some lame strategy and call it a day. The boss is not made to be beaten normally unless you're a god like player or use some parts of the strategy I marked above. Worst designed boss in all Fromsoft Games so far and I have played all but Demon Souls.

I can't believe we got sale and DLC before core features of the game got fixed. Also for 10€ this is very small of a DLC, with little to no content.
Beach DLC without ... beach?

I don't think any decent person works on this company anymore. How can you reconsile this with your conscience? Managment needs to get fired ASAP!

The microtransactions are garbage, neither are they required, nor are they of good value. So why are they there to begin with? A damn shame that Capcom thinks they are necessary. Mind blowing as they lost uncountable amount of sales by providing this nickle and diming.

The game itself has performance issues, very CPU bound. That aside, it's a hell of a lot of fun. If you liked the first game, you'll love DD2 even more. So for everyone undecided, get the first game, play it and if that's your kind of thing and your CPU is good (like at minimum AMD5900 or 5800x3D or Intel equivalent). Else it's really not fun to play or walk around in town. GPU does barely matter.

Negative: Lack of damage feedback, boring map, no destructables or shortcuts, no real tutorial, boring music, boring sound effects, boring endgame (as of my research), gender locked classes, pay skins and mictrotransactions, bad data protection eula, unfinished final act of the game, floaty feeling character, horrible UI, lack of accessibility by certain keys being unable to remap, boring story, online server issues, grindhell with seasons that force you to play a lot or your character gets put into legacy mode.

Neutral: average graphics, can be played with controller

Positive: Good crafting (not tested myself)

Final: Feels like a mobile game

Very cute farm DLC. It has the music, pixel art and humor of the base game. 5€ is a steal, for many more hours of fun and enjoyment, in this parallel world of our well known lovely main characters Sam and John.

Early Access Review
Great game. I can tell it's going to be a lot of fun exploring this amazing map. Totally recommended for an Early Access game.

Should you give this game a thumbs down?
Well I thought about this for a while. Actually I think it's more of a 6.5/10 kind of game, maybe a bit less because of the really boring points of interest and the stretched out missions.

But how else are players able to voice their opinion? How will Bethesda notice they need to change something? Through a negative rating, that's all we players have. Think further, what if the next TES releases in the same quality? My honest opinion: It would be devastating. Bethesda is developing into the wrong direction and other aspects are stagnating. Decades passed since Skyrim, even more since Oblivion and games evolved. We've now games with better story, better graphics, better animation, better open world, better quest design and much more interesting POIs. I'm not sure what Bethesda thought, when they shipped those really boring and repeating spots to explore. Having more copy paste planets, is not the solution.

I haven't finished the game yet, because the main story simply doesn't accelerate. I'm not sure if it will speed up or when. Some elements are just added but have no purpose, like building a base or upgrading weapons. The perk system is overly restrictive, you need a huge time investment to collect perk points and plan ahead to unlock some stuff that should be basics or equipment based. Some of the grinding feels annoying, as you have to level up by using, which slows you down. We've seen this kind of hybrid system done better in other games, like in Gothic from 2002.

The graphics are way too demanding for what it is. Loading screens where there's absolutely no need for, show how dated the engine is. Bugs from Skyrim are still popping up, including save corrupting ones. Bringing back paid mods is another huge hit for us gamers who love modding, this is damaging to the community. Bethesda needs to stop this.

As said earlier, towns feel bad in Starfield. You have a jetpack to explore, yet all roofs are empty and boring. You have so many planets, yet there's only one city on some of them and this city is tiny. All other planets are never empty, there are always concrete structures, which feels off. The few natural POIs are quickly explored and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat...

I could go on with things I don't quite like. Like traversal with space crafts but never have any big battles other than tiny ship vs x amount of tiny ships. How you can't travel without fast-travel. How there's barely variation on the planets or how temperature, elements, radiation don't matter.

You could call this the FromSoftware DLC, not a ripoff but you'll notice similarities, which amazing. 10 bucks for a few more hours of this great game, totally worth it. Green goblins damage got fixed fast and the improved and enlarged losomn map is well done. Performance needs a bit of cleanup, it's not on the level of the base game (which runs smooth on my system by now).
