Less challenging than previous installments given the fact almost every faction is neutral even when doing questionable atrocities. The fighting mechanic has improved and overall combat is a lot more bearable, yet it makes it less challenging compared to Shadow of Chernobyl. Good or bad this is all up to you.
The atmosphere is unbeatable against other post-apocalyptic games like Fallout (Not 1 or 2) and Mad Max. Really the only games that can make an attempt is the Metro trilogy. The depressing and grim appearance of the zone combined with man-made horrors beyond our comprehension makes it a game like no other.

The graphics feel already nostalgic of a time where you'd come home from middle-school to turn on your dads work computer to play all different kinds of games from the same era. With no worries of education, job, future and the life ahead of you.

This is the type of game you randomly start playing again after a long time with the same amount of enjoyment and determination to play through it, despite already knowing the lore, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. showcases how beautiful life can be in a dead environment.

The mod support for this franchise is one of the absolute best i've seen. Despite of it's old age the community keeps the game alive, up and running for years to come.

It breaks my heart knowing the current situation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia is delaying the progress of the new Heart of Chornobyl installment.

But no matter what.
S.T.A.L.K.ER. will always have a place in my heart.
