Blood, gore, carnage, death, destruction, US Senators... wait what? Yes this game has everything you could possibly need for a few days of fun. When Raiden goes Super Saiyan on yo pooper, you'll understand sooner than later.

I enjoyed this game, a fun, borderline technical hack and slash game that relies on a few of its mechanics heavily. Start getting good with that counter from the very beginning, it's the most heavily leaned upon mechanic in the gameplay. Otherwise there is no other way to negate incoming damage. Plus it sets you up for the "Chop Everything Into A Million Pieces" Mode. The timing can get wonky at times though making it something you'll frown (curse out in my case) at a few times.

All utility type items come straight from the enemies bodies. You will literaly rip the spines out from them, over and over and over and... (repeat x30), before they ever hit the ground. That is by effect of the "Chop Everything Into A Million Pieces" Mode, and let me tell you its disgustingly satisfying when you're surrounded then proceed to rip the spines out of 7-8 guys, all before they hit the ground. This is the last of the heavily relied upon mechanics. This one is far more fun in its implementation than the counter system.

I recommend this because it can appeal to a wide range of people that may be interested in a hack and slash game. I feel like on easy this could be beaten by a newcomer, making it easy to play, but hard to master in the end. So even veterans of the hack and slash will find it challenging and fun.

I'd give it a 7.5/10

This is a case of learning from past mistakes and implementing fixes that are fun and fair. The improvements in gameplay are spectacular and make this a must own for nearly any gamer, both new and old. Then the beautiful mixture of story and world building. One of the best old school RPG's I've played.

So like I said in my Fallout review this game fixes nearly every gameplay issue I had from the first one. The VATS hit calculations seem far more logical and correct, though it suffers a few times in a playthrough. I did not feel like rage quitting because of it at any point like the original did so many times. Thank you for this improvement.

Criticals, another point from my Fallout review, vastly improved. So now enemies will actually do damage to you throughout the game, and criticals won't drain you in a single shot usually. Once again I found the new system of critcals to be fair and appropriate.

So the story takes a step backward but then takes two more forward. The stepbackward is the depth of the NPC's. That has left, unfortunately, but has been replaced with greater variety. These enhance the world quite a bit, while giving you a little wish that some NPC's were used a little more. It's a better trade off in the end, because not only does it build story within The Chosen One's life but it also creates world depth. So this could go either way depending on your preference.

Add onto all of this more weapons and items. Then a Highwayman to boot. This is a monumental increase in gameplay making this a fun game and a great story.

The short version would be for you to get an upgraded experience from Fallout 2 and read about this one on the wikipedia or something.

So this game has a lot of fan boys... This game suffers from serious gameplay drawbacks that make it more frustrating than fun. Like seriously I think a 5 year old could have designed better math models for the hit percentages in this game. Seriously, I had VATS 87% chance to hit then shoot and miss 18 times in a row. Guess what game... that's not an 87% chance. Now if this happened once or twice, ok that's one thing, but this is a constant fight the game puts you against for no reason.

Next is the criticals... worst experience with them ever. After the first quarter of the game they will be the only enemy attack that will kill you. The normal attacks will hit you for 0 HP continuously, but then a mole rat will crit you for over 110 HP. The last boss is a perfect example of this. Him and his Super Mutants regular damage 0 HP lost, then a critical 200 HP lost. Your life will depend on a critical attack every turn of every encounter. Dreadul to a mathematical power of 50.

Then there's a mixture of feelings when it comes to the stories and plot in the game. The NPC's are pretty deep and well planned out. They offer information on the world, and allow you to see a sort of cultural element to the Wasteland. I liked this alot, and the locations you do get to visit are unique and inspiring. Yet in the end they are far to sparse to really feel connected to. Then the map... oh god the map... You will waste most of your time traveling into areas that will never lead to anywhere. Then in a moment you will realize that 80% of the map is dead, worthless space. Thanks for wasting my time game walking through desert fighting mole rats for absolutely nothing.

These combinations of bad gameplay make this a terrible game, but a great story. That's why I recommend reading on this one then moving to the second one. Nearly all of the problems in gameplay this faces are rectified in the second. Making Fallout 2 a much better choice for your money.

A fun game that is plot driven with some nice visuals. Soundtrack was fun and entertaining. There is quite a bit of story to unlock but even after unlocking most of it there are a lot of questions to be asked. It plays around some interesting themes, that makes it an intuitive world.

Pros: Nice visuals, Cool soundtrack, Excellent plot, interesting themes, fast paced combat

Cons: many of the charecters stories, combat gets repetative due to limited combos

Difficulty Level = 5 (You will die at parts in the game but progress will rarely if ever be seriously hindered.)

All in all you can expect to get about 6 - 10 hours of game in.

The Moon Sliver
A short narrative game that allows for free exploration and discovery. There is no real objective other than to uncover the story. It plays out in a few short sections that can last between 10 - 20 minutes. The scenery will change and that will be your notification that the game has moved forward. The controls are as responsive as you will need them to be.
The visuals in this game are acceptable for what this game is. It does enough and purely enough, nothing flashy or special. The issue I had was that the writing gave me a different sense in this game from what the visuals sometimes portray. A few scenes will reach out and touch you in a visual sense but they are the exceptions.
I did enjoy the soundtrack. It is the majority of where the ambient mood comes from. It will help you when you begin to feel disconnected from the visuals.
The writing and the story are done well and with a certain emotion that makes up for the vagueness. The metaphysical journey it takes you on is filled with a certain trepidation, wonder, and confusion. It is a fantastic enjoyable tale.
The mechanics are a little clunky as the text you are meant to read will sometimes overlap making it impossible to read. The point and click also has the potential to annoy and distract from the other excellent portions of the game.
The game can potentially be replayed to gather more intrigue into the story and nature of the surreal place and its inhabitants. An excellent way to kill an hour getting lost in a story that has the proper amount of vagueness to get your imagination rolling.

Would Recommend! 8 / 10
