As a Fig backer, I feel a bit conned, to be honest.

As a standalone game, it's not bad, It's enjoyable. Actual multiplayer is quite superficial in terms of gameplay, and the cover mechanic feature is....not great. Ships will leave cover constantly, or get stuck - and just generally ignore your instructions.

Truthfully this feels closer to Command & Conquer than Homeworld, and that's a bit of a stretch.

As a Homeworld game, if you've been waiting for this sequel for over 20 years like I have, you're in for a bad time. Don't bother.

I doubt Gearbox/BBI will be able to recover the game from this, which is an outright travesty. If they do, I'll update my review, I guess.

All good things must come to an end.

Early Access Review
This will no longer be worth using after EAC gets implemented. The competitors of this game are better anyway.

Keeping it brief:
- good story
- good gameplay
- interesting take on the souls-like formula
- just enough side content to keep you interested but not so much you feel overwhelmed

10/10 would be very sad at the end again.

You get to shove any weapon type you want up the arse of oversized dragons then get to tear the flesh from their corpses as you use their body parts to improve your gear.

Also the soundtrack is a complete banger.

10/10 would super amped element discharge into a rathalos again.

This game could've been SupCom: FA but better.

Instead it decides to eat up the entirety of the 16 GB of RAM my computer has, then randomly perma-freeze after a certain amount of units are reached.

You can't rebind specific keys.

You can't even save multiplayer games.

This game has gone back to the stone age, 11/10 glad I didn't pay full price for this bug-infested, unoptimised excuse of a game.

Homeworld Remastered is genuinely a breath of fresh air in the RTS genre all over again. Gearbox have done a fantastic job of reviving this classic series of 3DRTS action, with a beta multiplayer to boot. At the time of writing this, the multiplayer needs severe balancing and bug fixing, but it shows great potential. All four races (kush, taiidan, hiigaran, vaygr) are now all available in the multiplayer, however the homeworld 1 races need the most adjustments.

The remastered collection runs in the Homeworld 2 engine, with revamped graphics and the formations of homeworld 1 are now implemented into the game (however I don't think they function as gearbox intended, most likely will need fixing).

The collection also comes with the classic editions of both games if you feel like a trip down nostalgia lane, or if you just want to see the difference between the original games and the remastered editions.

If you enjoyed the original games, or have just come across this for the first time, I highly recommend purchasing it.
