I just finished playing what is my favorite game of the year so far. (Edit: Now that the year is nearly over, it's still my favorite game of the year and I've nominated it as such in the Steam Awards. Beyond what I wrote previously, it just leaves you with a certain feeling. A feeling not dissimilar to "nostalgia for something you've never experienced" or "homesickness for a place you've never been." It's an odd, beautiful feeling. I want more, but I know that would only dilute the greatness of it being precisely what it already is. I rarely score games above 9/10, but I want to give this like a 12 or 15—there's something impossibly good about it.)

It's somewhat short, but O. M. G. was it beautiful in so many different ways. 25% off right now—$10, but it's honestly worth $25 even being as short as it is. Highly recommend!

Usually genre-defying or mixed genre games give me a bit of anxiety, simply because I like to have my games well organized in my Steam library. But, Sayonara Wild Hearts is such perfection in the way it mixes genres. There are racing elements, rhythm game elements, shooter elements, side-scrolling, bullet hell, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. It was highly reminiscent of the old Dreamcast game Rez, but done even better. The game is pretty forgiving so, even if you aren't good at any one particular genre I imagine you can still get through the game without too much trouble.

The aesthetic is perfect. The music is driving. The story gave me goosebumps by the end. I love how they implied story elements through the symbolism of tarot. And the clear lesbian motif of course spoke to me. I can't say enough positive things about this game. Just go buy it now.
