Concept is great and the microphone as game play is a novel idea, but the monster in this game is very limited and poorly implemented.
The monster only shows up in a few areas. Outside of that you're just fighting the sound limit. I was hoping to see if it was possible to coax the monster to show up, but it's just a premade cutscene that plays if you make too much sound. The few interactions you do actually have with the monster when it shows up gets kinda boring quickly.

If making too much sound would have spawned the monster first and make you actually able to see it and hide from it, it could have been a whole lot more interesting.
But the way it actually is however just makes me disillusioned with it, and not even an hour in I was put off by it.

DON'T JUDGE THIS BEFORE YOU TRY IT!

I don't like card games. Never have. Not even physical card games.

But this? I LIKE THIS.

One of the biggest mistakes you could do is to glance over this without even considering it, irregardless of your feelings of what you *think* is similar games (which i guarantee you its not), there is very little reason not to give this a go.
It got nominated for GAME OF THE YEAR and that should tell you this there is something you're misjudging at a glance.

So go play it, dummy!

This game is the most fun i've had ever since Marvel Rivals beta. Feels like the start of Overwatch 1.

Trash. Awful awful trash.

There is a reason to why Paragon never took off, there is a reason to why this garbage never will take off.

Early Access Review
TD;DR: Impressive, but it needs more time to cook before I would recommend it to everyone.

Overall an impressive start for an Early Access title. The overall look, feel, sound and initial gameplay starts of strong right out of the gate, and it's very easy to get into even without too much hand holding.

When I get really into an Early Access title, I oftentimes dread when i hit the point where the obvious shortcomings or lack of gameplay, content, or game balance starts to show due to it still being in active development. As for this game i would say i got maybe 5-6 hours out of it before I hit this point. To a certain extent I suppose I could keep playing, and i probably will. But the gameplay loop is still too limited and doesn't offer a great deal of repeatability (yet!!).

As with most EA games at launch the fun is fairly short lived, moreso than I wish it would have been. I know there's a great deal of hype surrounding this game, but it still needs more time before I would recommend this to people in general. If you don't mind this caveat however, it's probably worth picking up now.

Excited to see where this game stands in the future.

I've tried to be patient with this game, i know it is a community favorite, but this is still a buggy and poorly optimized game. On top of that the game play loop is still very limited and only ever worthwhile if you got a group of friends to extend what little the gameplay itself offer.

Regardless of how much the community likes the game, it still got a long way to go before i could even consider recommending this half baked excuse. The pricepoint is at least somewhat fair, but it feels like I've bought into an early access rather than a full game.

I joined a month after release, hoping the worst things would be fixed by then. During my first 10 hours alone I've encountered more bugs than I have in most other games I've played recently combined, oftentimes game breaking and making me unable to proceed with the current mission.
On top of that this game is using 100% of my CPU regardless of settings and optimizations on my end. I got an i9-9900k - a step above the i7-9700k recommended CPU on this steam page.

It's clearly an optimization issue causing something to devour whatever processor resource it can, since uncapped the CPU get's so overworked ill go as low as 10 or less FPS to the point where i get audio cracking issue from the CPU being overworked.
I've exhausted a very long list of community suggestions for fixes and settings adjustments, but the only way i can even get this game in a playable state is by limiting FPS in nvidia control panel (ingame limiter doesn't work for this) to 30 FPS and overclocking the processor to nearly 5GHz so that i can maintain a somewhat stable FPS at that range...
Meanwhile my 4070 TI Super is chilling just fine sub 40% performance the entire time. As a matter of fact when capped on 30 FPS i can use any graphical setting, including super sampling, and the CPU and GPU handles it just fine while i still maintain those locked 30 FPS. Further proving somethings wrong with the way the game uses the CPU when rendering uncapped.

As for the bugs, it can be anything from visual, to mechanical. Any one of them happening at random times.
Some (but definitely not all) examples include:
-Enemy models not rendering
-Friendly models not rendering
-Weapons models disappearing mid fight (including ADS)
-Perpetual reloading animations that never ends
-Reloading giving me a new mag, mag shows full on UI, only to shot 3 bullets at requiring a reload
-Being unable to shoot until i die or restart
-Being unable to move until i die or restart
-Getting stuck in terrain until i die or restart
-Falling through terrain
-Clipping through terrain models
-Terrain height clearly being maneuverable, but character refusing to interact with it
-Being unable to pick up weapons
-Being unable to interact with objectives
-Edit: As i submit this review i get to experience more bugs with swimming animations. Great..

I'm used to PC gaming, and find myself rather patient when it comes to troubleshooting, but being forced to play at 30 fps is a really sub-optimal solution given my hardware. As for the bugs, I'm willing to ignore a fair bit usually, but the frequency at which I've encountered those on top of performance issues and a limited gameplay just makes me not want to recommend this to anyone at current point.

I was judging the book by its cover, and I was gonna write this game off as some weird pokemon game.
The most surprisingly fun and well built early access game to come out in... ever? Glad I gave it a second look and i highly recommend trying the game even if certain elements in this doesn't look to be your thing usually.
