State in february/march 2023:
Now it's a buy - however, it's not perfect. With the last patch, necessary features (crafting) were fully implemented, technical shortcomings in performance were addressed and mission selection (not variety) was increased. There is still some work to be done, but at this point you can already have a lot more fun.

State after release in january 2023:
- Still no major update for the technical iusses (random crashes), only hotfixes from the kitchen
- Fatshark delivers no substantial information, rather shallow information that fulfils no need (e. g. level creation... yeah, thanks a lot, now let's head back to the technical iusses)
- If Fatshark send out some small information, well ... a nonrelevant video on twitter while the fans of the game desperatly wait for true fixes and optimisation.
- Poor server status (server very slow or random disconnects) => results in crashes
- Absurd penances (e. g. Make every shot count...) destroying the game, engage in toxic playing and griefing instead for good gameplay.
- Raytracing is not optimised. It's more a gimmick to show that it works somehow. Far away from functionality.
- Sometimes, especially when a mutant grabs you, you may be threw out the map or simply get stuck in some unlucky corners.

If all these iusses don't hit brutally at the same time, yes, the game is fun. With pain. It's a pity, because it's actually great in substance. Super atmosphere, very good immersion thanks to excellent sound. That fits. However, the technical implementation of some (impossibly all) developers (teams) is just bad. You can tell that the teams weren't able to prioritise and coordinate with each other. A deadline from some nameless business idiot puts pressure on them, which again damages the development ... the result is this game.

But the business idiot (gladly also in plural) at Fatshark cheers, because money came into the coffers, in the short term nice, in the long term the reputation damage (Fatshark simply does NOT enjoy a good reputation as a good/smooth-working developer company - they are sloppy and enjoy the once good idea of a Vermintide combined with good world design). The business idiot then likes to move on to the next company.... as a nameless business idiot with a good demeanour, you're bound to get hired again.

I've had enough by now. A recommendation to buy despite the many hours I spent in it, some of them in pain? Definitely not to a new buyer who is still thinking about it. Save your money and come back when there's a discount You'll get a hopefully a more polished game (maybe) - 6 or 12 months later. It's just embarrassing that the great immersion at the beginning overlooks the technical shortcomings, you give in to the illusion of "not so bad" and in the end the reality hits you in bad team management, bad communication and one or more nameless business idiots - combined at Fatshark (not that other companies are more exemplary).

Shame!

PS: aside from all these iusses ... the ingame shop seems to work really smooth.
