I bought this off of a recent Humble Bundle "Sci Fi FPS" Bundle and I'll say it's rather nice. I know there's a way to mod the original game to have similar graphics but this was a lot better since I can mess with the options directly, etc. Normally I'm the kinda fellow who says "Go with the Free Option" and I stand by that...but this is the one time where I scratched my head and went "huh...nice". I like this Remaster. It's great for what it is.

If you want to try Dark Forces, I recommend the original (which is still out there in the Market) but if you want to experience it in glorious HD, this is your stop. But again, you always have the option to playing the Fan-Made "Remaster" mod though I still recommend this (doesn't need to be set up, easier to tweak settings, etc. more content, etc.).

Honestly, other than the Storyline, this game was rather disappointing. They roster is lack-luster. They put a HANDFUL of characters behind MULTIPLE Season Passes (each costing a good chunk of money). I bought the "Best" version that has all the DLC and when I popped it open, it felt like I was still missing content (it felt empty/bare-bone). Arc System Works has eaten from the rotten apple that is the practice of slicing up a game and selling it as pieces. They could have added more DLC for the price they're asking, but nope.

Gameplay is alright. Feel's a bit different than Xrd and Revelator. I've been a long time fan and I only got this to complete my collection and to see if -Strive- was worth it. If you're not a big fan or you don't have any reason to buy this (as in you don't have any friends asking you to get it nor are you attending any tournaments) I do not recommend getting this as your start into Guilty Gear. There's plenty of complete Guilty Gear games that FEEL Complete.

Probably the best Japanese Mech game in the Market. If you haven't played the games in the series, do so! I'll update this review sometime when I'm done with my 3rd playthrough.

It's okay for what it is. I remember when this came out, I was immediately intrigued by it. It gave off KOTOR vibes as well as Maelstrom and Kingdom Under Fire vibes. If you see this on sale and want to try out a hybrid RTS/RPG/Action game, it's not half bad. Keep in mind, it was made by a one-man-team (to my knowledge) and his community actively participated in suggestions and help. That's what drew a lot of early-purchasers when this was released.

10/10 I recommend checking out the other games in the series (ESPECIALLY Tiberian Sun and its Expansion, Fire-Storm). This is honestly a great restoration effort. As for the people complaining about the AI Upscaling, you're 100% correct about the FMVs. But on the other side of it, at least it's in 1080p and you can try to convince yourself it's "CRT, but not really CRT". I do hope someone makes a Mod to upscale things better.

Gameplay, still has the same bugs/quirks as the original. Still very fun. Can be frustrating at times. Music...oh man. The music is SUPERB. Everything else (pacing, netcode, etc.) is pretty solid too. The options menu is VERY VERY VERY detailed and accessible. The plus-side is that the game has direct Workshop support.

For a Restoration Effort, this is great.

I hate having to refund a game that cost less than a dollar, but boy oh boy does this game take the term "Rogue-Like" way too literally in the sense that even OPERATING the game is a Rogue-like experience. Sometimes it won't show up on the right monitor. Sometimes, the orientation is a dizzying 270º (tilted to the left of my screen). Other times, my controller doesn't want to work. And when it does, my Keyboard refuses to work. Truly a revolutionary step in Rogue-like gameplay.

I can't even get it to fit my screen. Unfortunate since the game is aesthetically okay. Reminds me of 2000s games involving birds-eye-view space battles. Overall, I hope the Dev fixes the game, because it's barely playable in its current state.

I really have to say, the Devs put a lot of soul into this. It plays a bit like GTA 2 in terms of camera and action. The Art Style is also pretty dang good for what it's going for. I need to play more of it to judge the gameplay as a whole, but so far, this is rather entertaining. I might come back to this review and add that part later, but I like what I've played up until now.

My only complaint might just be the Save system, but that's just me Save-Scumming :P Other than that, I can't find any fault. If you like crafting, exploring, and navigating ships, this game is for you. I don't usually enjoy games that are crafting-centric, so that's saying something.

Honestly, I'd say save your money but it is nice to have in your arsenal. This usually goes on sale for about 99 Cents and I believe it has both weapon packs as well as the cool Character pack (I got it for Hunk, because Resident Evil is that lit). For a dollar? I'd say it's worth it. Full price? Eh, up to you but I'd argue you should get it for a dollar.

My apologies to the Devs, but while I understand this was made by a tiny group of people (if not one person), it doesn't feel like a game. What they have so far is impressive, given its scope, but I didn't enjoy it. It felt more like navigating through an interactive playset where you can't really...play. I do see potential and wish them the best of luck, though.

So I'm gonna be 100% forward about my attitude towards this game: I was excited the moment it was announced. Being a massive fan of Ninja Gaiden, Strider, Shinobi, and generally any game that lets me Zip-Around as a Ninja/Martial Artist/Assassin, I was hyped for this from Day One. I've had a lot of disappointments in games I've been hyped up for and this was not one of them. In fact, I couldn't put this game down when I started playing it.

So, the visuals: Expect detailed and gorgeous pixel-art. In terms of visual design, you won't find any lazy efforts. From the cherry-blossom leaves, to the various bosses and enemies, everything seems to have been paid good attention to.

Gameplay: Fast paced Arcade-y action with challenges that are built into the level designs themselves (think Ninja Gaiden on the NES and how some the level designs were made to test the skills you learned along the way). I can't find any fault with the gameplay whatsoever. In fact, I'll infer that I prefer this game to Shovel-Knight. While Shovel-Knight is amazing (especially the Treasure Trove edition), this game simply has the aesthetic and gameplay I'm obsessed with.

Music: Great. Chiptune but it's obvious that whoever wrote the music has both a talent and a knack when it comes to making music that sounds good in 8-Bit (this is something that's important when it comes to music and sound design in Retro-Style games. You can't just plop a Midi or Music file into a game and expect it to set the mood. You have to know what mood you're going for and what notes compliment the atmosphere you're going for).

Sound Design: Can't find anything to complain about. Generally reminds me of old-er games (which is the point). So, good stuff.

Level Design: Challenging but also fun as heck, especially if you're trying to do runs where you don't take any damage.

Overall 5/5. I can't recommend this game enough.
