Throughout the last year since your diagnosis of Sarcoma, the last 5 years I've watched you, and beyond, you've radiated an air of humble positivity and self-awareness rivaled by few in this world. You stood up to any danger with a smile, and with your sharp wit and dry humour. You brightened the day of everyone who knew you, whether personally or through YouTube or Twitch. As Alexander the Great once said, โ€œI would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity.โ€ And a short life of glory you lived.

ยญYou kept me going through some rough times. When there was nothing else, there was Technoblade. You were my comfort for as long as I knew you existed. I'm glad we shared that sentiment; you said that your years being Technoblade were the happiest ones of your life. You died doing what you love, you died with many accomplishments and with the ones you love around you. I sincerely hope that helped you cope, because it certainly helps me. As I write this, you're still my comfort. I'm watching your old bedwars streams. I'm glad your content is still around, because in a way it immortalizes you. If God sends you to hell, I'll meet you there and cause an upheaval. You didn't deserve any of this, and there's no way I'd sit by and let you go through any more turmoil. We can escape and take on the Kingdom of God together.

Your humility and your sheer will, your strategic mind and calculated skill, your careful articulation and the confidence you instill ... I guess what I'm trying to say is you not only uplifted me, but you inspired me. You fought many battles and gave me the strength to do the same. You single-handedly made me want to study English in University. Attention span or not, I admired your ability to put your mind to something and stick to it until you reach your goals. My attention is also easily lost. I find solace and confidence in the fact that you, in all your ADHD glory, achieved so much in the short time you shared with us. It gives me hope that I could achieve my goals one day too. So thank you. For that, and for everything.

Rain World does not care about you. The gameplay will remind you of this, the dialogue will remind you of this, even the controls will remind you of this. Over, and over, and over again. You will die, and it won't always be your fault.

This really does sound like the opening to a negative review, but I assure you it's not. You are just a feeble slugcat in a bustling yet abandoned ecosystem, slowly figuring out how to deal with predators, prey and the various tools at your disposal, littered across the land. You will learn things. Each thing you learn will give you a little advantage over the world and the creatures, and thus a means to survive another day. This is exactly what an animal needs to do in an unfamiliar place. You and the slugcat are one and the same, and it is so very easy to get immersed in the game.

Rain World's visuals are phenomenal, the music adapts to the world around you, the world wraps around beautifully so it's a joy to explore, there is a 92-page document on the movement (almost none of which is explained to you) and learning/mastering new things is euphoric, and conquering each small feat of survival is oh so satisfying -- but Rain World is hard. It's unforgiving. The world goes on with or without you and you are most definitely on the bottom half of the food chain. Small, insignificant. Because of the unscripted nature of the game, some deaths and shortcomings are simply not avoidable. Especially for those who are new to the game. To truly enjoy Rain World, you need to have patience and perseverance. If you have these things, you're going to have an experience you won't soon forget. If you don't, you'll be frustrated to no end and wind up hating the game.

Definitely worth full price for this one. Rain World combines with Outer Wilds and Slime Rancher to make my top 3 games. I can't wait to see what's in store for the DLC, and I have no doubt that it will make me love this game even more.

Edit: Downpour is amazing. Outer Wilds is still my favourite game for sake of emotional significance, but Downpour is a very compelling argument.
