My name is Garrett Rose. i've been chief inspector at this station for 17 years, but never had i seen such terror trapped within a mortal soul. this "CJ" had absorbed the sun's energy,
his skin was bursting with the wrath of Ra, god of the sun. What were we to do? We were hopeless against such reckless power.
Only the Ancient Divines could save us now, if only... if only I had more time, maybe I could've stopped this madness? No, I can't dawdle, the Divines, I must find them.
As I searched the outskirts of the city, I could hear the burning, the screaming, it had started. The Crusader took point on the door of an old abandoned building, Legend Dan took cover on the roof, attempting to get a look through the window.
The door suddenly cracked open with a bolt of electric energy, the crusader was instantly consumed by a lightning storm faster than I could ever hope to react
Legend Dan, peering though the roof window glared down into the darkness letting out a short but wretched scream he was taken, thrown into the void and eternal suffering.
My eyes darted to the now wide open door, I saw a flash of light, faster than I'd ever seen before. I instictively pulled up my shield, somehow fast enough to block whatever this light was
"HOLD!" I shouted, with no pause, "I AM THE HERALD, CHIEF INSPECTOR OF THE ANCIENT LANDS"
The divines, now standing out in the open eyes shimmering with various energies looking down upon me, asked me a single question in unison "WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS HERE, HERALD?"
"CJ, he has consumed the sun, taken it's energy, he now seeks to destroy us all." the Ancient calls for your aid.
the Divines, now paying attention to my words, replied "THE LOST ONE, HE HAS DARED RETURN?" "WE WILL ACT UPON THIS, HERALD" "BUT KNOW, SHOULD YOUR CLAIMS PROVE FALSE, YOU WILL SUFFER THE FATE OF YOUR FRIENDS"
I gave a solemn nod to the Divines, I dared nor speak up again, lest I be destroyed on the spot.
They all began to glow, cyan, purple, teal, all manners of colours. Then they were gone, what magnificent sorcery, how could one hope to achieve such power?
Above the city, the Divines arrived to find the Ancient under barrage from CJ's sun energy. They began to erect spell barriers and summoned up all kinds of magics designed to stun and stop CJ's attack.
This however was futile, CJ expanded his energy outside his body, a golden glow surrounded him. All spells simply bounced off this shield and fell to the earth.
CJ smiled a devilish smile, he charged into the middle of the 4 Ancients, tearing them asunder in mere seconds.
The way was clear now, the path to the Ancient was open. Nothing could stop him now, the world was at it's knees before him.
As he lifted his blade, exuberant and prideful, ready to end it, to finally strike down the Ancient, he felt a sharp pain in his back
The fabled Blade of the Abyss, now sticking out from his armor had locked him in place.
Beside it stood the last of the defenders of the Ancient. The Immortal.
He raised his fist and slammed it into CJ's now open wound, sending him flying back into the earth
As he crashed, he saw The Immortal charging into him, he wanted to defend himself and retaliate, but The Immortal was too fast, he couldn't stop him.
Strangely, The Immortal was no man of great feature, a small purple man with a spiked head, unassuming to most, but undoubtedly the strongest of us all.
CJ was pulled backwards tumbling over himself, he passed through a wall of strange purple energy
As he looked up, he saw himself, or at least, an image of himself. Before he could react this image struck him down.
The threat had ended, at the brink of victory CJ had failed, overthrown by The Immortal.
As The Immortal looked down upon him with raised fist ready to extinguish this rotten flame, he said a simple phrase, "gg ez mid noob invoker".
