i keep screwing up with the pope and have everyone and their mother attack me
but man the game is so smooth and in depth even compared to modern total wars

if you want to try out total war, this one is the best one to start out with

Good idea, executed horribly.

A few things that stood out. I have an RTX 2060, and yet the game on full settings stutter, lag, and just generally are horribly optimized on 1080p alone. This normally wouldn't bother me, but the graphics are not that fantastic and amazing so they horribly optimized this game.

You run at like light speed. For some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason. I like getting around fast, but the whole point of a RPG is to enjoy the world. The world doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matter when I go faster than a wolf and just outrun it by being the most athletic ♥♥♥♥♥ out there.

It seems to have this 2 hour barrier. What I mean by that is a lot of cheaper, iffier games have this 2 hour barrier to prevent from being refunded because of Steams policy. So for the first 15-30 minutes you play the tutorial, you customize your character, which I have to comment on seperately later, and then try the game out for 1-2 hours. Funny thing, I nearly hit the barrier because as soon as it reached 2 hours of game time for me, it was just repeating, boring, and overall just tedious more than anything after that. Buy sell buy sell buy beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of someone sell buy sell buy sell gather supplies craft sell. This is a disgrace to RPGs everywhere and I don't play a lot of RPGs.

Character selection gives the idea of this customizable world of setting your own ideas into action. Nope. I did not count, but 90% of the character customizable shiz nit is literally one thing. TATOOS. This actually made me take a double look to make sure I am not playing Early Access. This game needs to be early access.

Also, whoever created the title for this game "Shoppe Keep 2- Online co-op open world first person resource management RPG" literally needs to take an English, or whatever language they speak, paper class that shows them how to title a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ paper because that title is just off putting and really shows they are not competent enough to get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ title right.

You also just smash yourself into doors to open them, no joke.

All in all, this game in unfinished and by the look of the developers games, they are greedy and just want to make a quick buck. Thank god I got this in humble bundle monthly and didn't waste 10 dollars for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

Personally, while I only played for a little bit. I do intend to play more and this game I would not mind having small micro-transactions such as soundtrack and goofy cosmetics to be able to support this game further. It is honestly a hidden gem.

SIngleplayer is fun as usual.
The aids is online. Imagine the worst possibly security in the world that makes your grandma's computer seem like a super fortress. 1/2 games have a "modder" aka someone who just downloads a few things and follow the instructions to install the files. Normally I would be fine if its like just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with their car or bouncing around or changing skins, but the issue is the mass majority are just...awful. There are mods that allow you to go into someone's elses car while they are driving and take over. There are mods that allow you to kick a person from the game. There are mods that allow you to force someone out of a moving vehicle from kilometers away. ♥♥♥♥ like that doesn't make the game fun. Worst part is a good majority of the community is fine with this and usually befriends these people to exploit these mods.
This ♥♥♥♥ isn't fun when I am just doing some bounty mission and exploding with nobody around. Rockstar doesn't even try to change this. They practically gave up on GTA V by the looks of it and just add some things to distract people and make sure that people will buy microtransactions still. They spent millions on a game then spent hundreds on multiplayer. What the hell. The servers are also so bad that they take a good 5 minutes to just load into a session. The amount of times I stopped playing just because something else came up was unbelievable. Usually you have to go cook food then come back and just make it in time to log into Online.
Its clear Rockstar does not care about GTA V anymore. Its clear that they are heading towards Bethesda direction.

This is how to do DLC properly in games. A simple starter pack that is not broken, but aids in bridging gaps between different levels. This game is over half a decade old and you are going to have different levels fighting each other, so trying to put it on a semi level playing field is a good idea.
It is only a dollar extra as well with the bundle and on sale. That is when it is worth it. 15 dollars for GTA V and a starter pack for online is fun.

I am going to make this a negative review for one reason and one reason only. The inability to change controls (last time I spent 5 minutes around with the menu ♥♥♥♥, I could have missed something), but most importantly, the controls and building is wonky as ♥♥♥♥. Such as the copying tool, first off being insert which is a horrible key for laptop users, and when copying, a lot of times it goes to a direction that does not make sense. Like I try to drag a block from the menu, sometimes it just spawns in backwards for some reason, no matter the direction I want to spawn it from. Sometimes I am trying to drag something into this specific postition. It gets screwed to another place, so I try the WASD movement of the block. That is the most janky thing ever, and I have no idea why because it depends on your view and can easily ♥♥♥♥ up.

The point is, I hate the controls, for a building game. I can't do the controls effectively because I have a different keyboard. Now this would not be bad if I could change the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls to something else. The base game is fine and fun to a degree, the controls for building are not. I spend most of the campaign building than searching for blocks... and I make tiny objects with a lot of power to grab ♥♥♥♥.

This is not close to Mount and Blade
I have been talking to friends who own the game as well and there is a universal idea that this game is not good but everyone wants it to be good because of Mount and Blade. I think the developers may be way over their heads with this genre. Mount and Blade really put forth a new genre but that genre requires HEAVY AI knowledge. The AI in this game is full potato. In Mount and Blade the AI also took into account unit types so it may not matter if you have like 20 tier 1s, if they are Sea Raiders with 15 they may still take you. In this game you dog pile and no one touches you.

I respect new developers, issue is when it is 20-25$ for the game, and it does not feel complete then that is an issue. This game just feels like someone bought assets off the Unity store and just slapped it in with few changes. The Unity engine is not good for this either because it uses a lot of resources and power to operate. I have a pretty good PC and I hear my fans rev up always when this game launches. I feel like they should have gone for a different genre instead of taking on a new look on a beloved franchise many love and hold dear.

This game needs to fix a lot of the RPG aspects. Small things like actually lowering night vision goggles would be fantastic. Changing maps so they are actually dynamic instead of this.... hill ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where there are like 5 maps but retextured over and over. The FPS aspect as well is lacking. Firing rate... I know some programming from making and editting mods, so I understand the fire rate but nobody else may. 0.07 type numbers for the firerate is just... dumb. Somebody needs to install a new script so it converts those numbers to RPM instead.

The text needs to be fixed like holy hell I have text come overlap and not fit into boxes which should be basic first steps. Which proves my point of it feeling iffy. It seems like they really wanted to copy Mount and Blade and make this successor type, but it also seems like they are way over their heads. There are many more issues, but this is a review to give an idea of the game. Go watch full gameplay streams of videos if you want to see the entire game.

A Note For The Devs

Devs, if you read this, a lot of people want this game to work, but you may need someone more experienced to help out, or pull more people in while lower the price. Gamers are willing to mod and help out and games like World of Tanks, and Team Fortress 2, and Payday 2 have all incorporated mods, but that requires a massive community and loyal support. This game feels asset flipper like but you do hint that you care for the game. This game should not have left Early Access for sure.
