Hades is fun. It's just seriously, deeply fun. If that's what you wanted to know, start playing it now. If not, read on.
So first off, yes, it's a RogueLite. The combat is twitchy, responsive, and feels great. You rapidly unlock a variety of different weapons to use, and yes, they do feel pleasantly unique, particularly the bow which feels slower and more methodical than the other methods while not actually feeling *SLOW* per se.
The character writing is crisp and fun. It does play fast and loose with some elements of mythology, but damn if they haven't done their research (or at least binge watched all of Red's videos on Overly Sarcastic Productions) because they've chosen their target protagonist with Maximum Wiggle Room and crafted a delightful story where the Olympians are dysfunctional jerks, Hades seems awful but mostly the guy is just really, really, really, really ♥♥♥♥♥♥' tired, and MEDUSA IS THE CUTEST. Like, just adorable.
If you like slightly twitchy RogueLites, you will like Hades. If you don't, you might still like it. Just play with a controller. Seriously, don't try the mouse and keyboard on this one.

So let's get the obvious out of the way first: Battletech isn't a perfect game. It's occasionally buggy, the gameplay system has some arcane features that require getting used to, and there are a few "dream features" that just aren't in this game.

With that said, what you get is damn solid. If you can ignore an occasional camera glitch, you'll have a lot of fun with Battletech. The story is pretty good, the gameplay is fun (and harder than you'd think), and the mech combat is very satisfying.

Now if only I could play as a Clanner, quiaff?

World of Horror is a wonderful exercise in eerie game design. The decision to build the game around early Macintosh-style 1-bit graphics is stylistically perfect, and WoH does really build dread with only that minimalist graphical content. Forget Lovecraft's racist bulldrek - THIS is an eldritch horror setting done correctly. My only complaint is that after a few times through you start to anticipate the events you're going to run into, but the game has a very active modding community that can load you down with hours upon hours of new content, and the game IS still receiving updates.

All in all, a very worthy investment for anyone that wants to get freaked out.

So, let's talk Hiveswap.

Short version: It's quite good.

While the time between episodes has been eyebrow raising, the end product is about what you'd expect from Telltale's episodic adventure games (EG Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People), just swearier. Joey's exodus across Alternia via train is well put together, and the Phoenix Wright homage is well put together. The fact that certain tasks can (and should!) be solved in more than one way is grin inducing. And the cast is nuts.

Also I finally got rid of those pogs.

Mini Metro is a remarkably relaxing game. Getting good requires some forethought and observation - where are passengers piling up? Does this line have a good distribution of station types? - and once you have all that down, it becomes almost meditative. The minimalist sound effects definitely help with that.

This is the game that the tail end of 2020 needs. Zen out. Build trains. Hope for the best.

On the one hand, PUBG is quite fun. In the time I've played, I've found it to be a more tactical, contemplative game than its main competitor - Fortnite - and have really enjoyed both the expansive and interesting maps and the flow of gameplay. On the other hand, IT WILL NOT LET ME QUIT, and I do not mean that with hyperbole. When I close the game, it remains running in the background until I close down Steam. Still not sure why. The end result of this is that while I have 59 hours logged in the game as I write this review, the actual time playing is closer to three or four hours. So yeah, some stuff to be patched there, I think.

It's cosmic horror!
It's Nuevo-Victorian sci-fantasy!
It's FLYING A LOCOMOTIVE THROUGH SPACE!
Sunless Skies is, quite simply, a delight and I challenge anyone to dislike it.

Tabletop conversions don't get much better than this. The game has crazy levels of depth, while still being simple enough that you can pick it up and play a round on your lunch break. My only complaint is that adding in additional game boards as DLC is sort of a nickel-and-dime approach - I'd rather have every variant included in the base game, thankyouverymuch.

I've just started playing GRIP, and already I can tell that I have a winner on my hands. For me, futuristic racing games (a la F-Zero and Wipeout) live and die by the kinesthetics of the gameplay - how it FEELS to steer the vehicle around, how it FEELS to target opponents with homing missiles, how it FEELS when you wipe out. And GRIP feels absolutely perfect. The ability to drive on walls and ceilings adds a nice little wrinkle to gameplay too.

The glory days of the NES have come again. Downwell could well have been popular on that system; it features gloriously crunchy chiptunes, hard-as-brass difficulty, and a control scheme that makes it dead easy to jump in and play. I've played for three hours at the moment, but that's in ten-to-twenty minute spurts over time.

Downwell is retro in more than just looks - it FEELS like a classic NES title. I can highly recommend this one.
