You will probably be completely lost for the first 5-10 games-- each game lasts about 15-20mins. But it's good fun once you're into it. Don't play this if you're scared of social interaction; there's lots of open mic conversation and trolling. And considering, it's the steep price of free, this is definitely good bang for your buck.

Early Access Review
The game-play loop feels similar Terraria, but with a better presentation. The game operates in a 2.5D isometric view. It has numerous world bosses, all with unique locations and summoning rituals. Craftable weapons and armor that scale with the biomes you've conquered. While exploring you may find unique weapons and armor, some of which, only have a single instance on the server. There are skill and talent trees. As well as base building and friendly NPC's

I never really got into Terraria due to the 2D view. And minecraft is good for building; but there is nothing worth exploring for once you've experienced all the biomes. This game plays how I would want this genera of game to play. I know that is vague, and hard to interpret. But it feels smooth and worthwhile to navigate. Which I can't say is true for other games in the genera.

This is a public service announcement:
Buy this instead of the 27th re-release of Skyrim,
The people and your government thank you :D

My G.O.T.Y. 2021
Excellent visuals & art style, an intriguing story, and excellently designed turn based combat. Great game. And this is coming from an FPS game monkey.

I'll start with the bad:
-Paid "seasons" / expansions require consistant monitary re-investment from the player to stay atop the meta and enjoy the seasonal activities (~$100/year)
-At times when playing endgame activities your ability to use creative or niche character builds can be limited or outright discouraged due to the meta. (Super endgame activities like Grandmaster Nightfall's REQUIRE playing the set meta at the time more often than not)
-Due to it being a cross platform MMO, the netcode can be tempormental and lag you out sometimes. For me, it is rare. For some of my friends it is a daily recurrence.

The Good:
-The highest polish you can find for an MMO, combined with shooting mechanics comprable to other AAA FPS games.
-Due to the constant seasons and expansions, the game always has fresh content to check out.
-At least the game allows for a bit of a "try before you buy" approach with it being free to play and experience, however, the expansions / seasons are paid. But, at the least, you can try it out without the developer asking for money.
-The lore can be confusing or hard to follow for new or casual palyers, BUT, it at least has that deep lore for those interested.
-Visuals and settings are contrasting and scenic. Planent to planet, raid to raid, there is unique charm.
-Great soundtrack (especially in the expansions) for music buffs.
-The gameplay lends itself to co-op, encouraging you to play with friends; or make new ones in the game world to run activities with.
-Decent variety of weapons & abilities, which in turn, allows for a lot of personalization and freedom in your build and approach. (Listen, at the end of the day it is still space wizards with guns running around shooting things. But at least you can choose between a shotgun wielding emperor palpatine, or a revolver toting flaming blade thrower).

A reminder that video-games are art.

Truly the "Dark Souls of FPS games" giving those with the requisite skill ample tools and avinues of attack. Rewards aiming for the head with crisp one taps on the majority of enemies. Lots of enemy, weapon, character augment, and level design variety.

If you love FPS games like I do: this game is the biggest FPS revolution since the original Counter-Strike mod and Battlefield coming to consoles.
