fast paced and hectic.

goes back to DOOM's roots in gun play and the new additions to movement system make it flow really well when you get master it.

can be a bit infuriating at times with getting stuck on demons/geometry at times but can be overlooked as it doesn't happen too often.

the multiplayer functionality that is in game is fun. the slayer vs 2 demons can be a real fun time with some friends. slayer has an advantage but can be overwhelmed by the demon team if not careful. wouldn't recommend this game if looking for a multiplayer experience like DOOM 2016 or other shooters but its definitely some additional fun on the side. campaign is where this game shines.

performance in game is also impressive. very smooth frame rate from what i have experienced. doesn't have huge dips and maintains relatively consistent frames even in large fights. graphically impressive with no noticeable pop in for the most part. big improvement over last dooms render for those who enjoy the graphical side of things.

overall a good time and would recommend to those who like DOOM and/or a good arcade style shooter experience

a new take on the quake series adding a hero shooter type element to the classic arena shooter.

the game has made some strides in the last year in a few places but still needs work in others. at this point i can say im comfortable with recommending it as at least a casual game, not so much a competitive one currently. it still has issues with netcode, champion balance and performance but they have gotten a lot better in the last year.

[]

netcode is still iffy at times and can result in weird hits and miss fires of shots. server side validation can sometimes be off, especially if playing against players with higher ping (80+)

performance has seen improvement as well. the game stutters less than it did a year ago with some hitching still present but no where near as invasive. still could use a LOT of work to get it running smooth

champion balance is becoming more equalized but i suspect as more champs are added it will unbalance once again, as this is how hero shooters twend to play out.

overall id say the game is pretty fun and id say give it a try as it is now free to play. if you dont like it you can uninstall and retry at a later date when hopefully it will have improved further cuz it really is a fun time when it works.

its a fun game to play but has some issues with it.
the reason i can not currently recommend this game is due to its numerous issues as of writing this review.

issues include:
-netcode
-memory leaks / optimization
-hero balance

i can overlook the hero balance as hero shooters never quite balance out to 100%. however the netcode is a big issue that needs to be addressed. recently the game changed over to a new client side registration with server validation, which works but is also inconsistent. you can shoot / be shot behind cover at times and can be quite annoying at times.
there are also memory leaks make the game stutter client side after playing for a while causing you to have to possibly restart the game client which can be quite annoying when you just want to sit down and play. however they have been improved a bit from previous patches.

personally i enjoy the game at its core despite these flaws, though they can get on my nerves at times.

i would recommend this game at a later time because as of now it is a work in progress. hopefully we will see improvements to the game and its engine in the near future with upcoming patches.

the ping issues ruin this game! even with good connection to servers it always feels imprecise and aim feels really off. would recommend if the netcode was better. even quake 3 feels better and that game was from years ago

they done did it right! was a bit skeptic during the beta but they pulled off a flawless campaign mode! its brutal and bloody, just what a doom game needs! all the weapons feel like they are hitting hard as you mow down the demons of hell.
my only complaint is the multiplayer is still kinda odd feeling for a doom game and isnt the best in my opinion. it feels too generic even with the weapon choices. its like halo but worse. doesnt have the brutality that the rest of the game.

after a while away from it, returning the game seems to function better than before. the aim feels better now. the crosshair finally shows where the bullets go so im happy with it. lag issue seems to have also been fixed so i can move right now as well. idk if that was the game or my system in some way though.

as of its current state id say its quite fun and would recommend it to those who are fans of the series.

[original]

cant really say i enjoy it. main reason is that aim seems to have nothing to do with it. could just be me but the crosshair doesnt seem to correlate where your aiming at. 90% of the time i have it locked on an enemy just to have no bullets hit even when using a controlled fire technique. the lag also makes it hard to move sometimes and enemies sometimes jump around even though i have playable ping. i just dont get it.

it pains me to give this a negative review cuz i had high hopes for it. would not recommend in its current state.
