I have a love/hate relationship with this game. Mostly as in I love this game, and this game hates me.

So what's there to love? Let's start with the music. I'm a sucker for a good soundtrack, and oh man this game has a great soundtrack. It's so great to get to a new area (or boss) and just pause and listen to the music. (Side note: If you want to listen for yourself, look up the Dirtmouth theme. It's basically the first place you get to, so no spoilers there.) I seriously can't get over how much I love this game's soundtrack.

Next is the overall art. I'm sure you've seen plenty of reviews talking about this, but this game is so pretty. Every area has its unique ambience and it's great to see just what that is when you first get there. As well, every area has (mostly) different enemies, whose appearances match with the area you're in.

Then there's the story. There's not much to go on at first, but as you play more and more things just build up more and more and get better and better. There's a lot of lore to be discovered in this game, so much so that it's hard to find it all in one playthrough.

Now why do I say this game hates me? This game is hard. If you're going through this game without ever having seen any walkthrough of this before, be ready to die a lot. There are plenty of challenges to be had, especially when going for 100%. (What you will probably have as the last 1% is brutal.) And then once you complete the game for the first time, you unlock permadeath mode for even more of a challenge.

Otherwise, I've had my fair share of delay problems, which are partially due to my setup. This has included things such as holding the heal button and not healing, holding down+attack and attacking forward instead of down, and getting hit while still in a black screen transition after landing on spikes.

Overall, this game is fantastic. I highly recommend buying this game, even at full price. Just be ready for what lies ahead.
