If anyone happens upon this review without pre-existing knowledge. This game seemingly was built to build, refine, and test the ENFUSION game engine that Bohemia Interactive will use for future Arma titles. Enfusion is very cool, supposedly the development tools are interesting and useful. The game looks good.

I've played Arma 3 for 8000 hours at the time of this review. I've primarily been playing as a helicopter pilot during my time in Arma 3. The characteristics of helicopter flight in this game are not very fun. It shipped 2 years ago and still doesn't have HOTAS support. Obviously I'm biased towards Arma 3, and like I said, Reforger is a testbed for the Enfusion engine, so HOTAS is not their #1 priority, but I personally don't enjoy the game without strong helicopter physics. I don't need *realistic* physics, but I need at-least fun physics.

Arma 3 has remained immensely popular in the military gaming community since 2013, and it's remained that way for a reason. It's a strong bed for modders to create game-changing mods. With the Enfusion engine and tools, they've really allowed modders to take it to the next step, but they scrapped everything that made base Arma 3 good when they designed Reforger. When you boot Vanilla Arma 3, the helicopters are fun to fly, the vehicles are fun to drive, the guns feel good. The downside is that the game isn't as intuitive, but the UI is more minimal. I would argue that having a less intuitive game is better. When you learn and make use of mechanics that are new to you, you feel like you're progressing, but not because you leveled up, but because you learned something new.

TL;DR Arma 3 is a much better buy for your limited money. Reforger can be fun, but Arma 3, at the time of writing, has so much more milage for your money.

Disclaimer, I bought the Liberator of Wraeclast supporter pack for this game. I have every reason to try to like this game, but I just don't.

The direction they have chosen for the game is not what I expect from a Path of Exile title. Loot, regardless of rarity, is so rare that playing with friends is a detriment. This game takes a lot of features from POE1's ruthless mode, a mode which is laughed at by POE1 players.

Here are my particular gripes. The damage range for skills is unbelievably ridiculous and is very unfun in a horde slaying game. For example, a skill can do between 1 and 24 damage. That means that half of all your hits are going to do below 12 damage. The passive tree is very dense and hard to maneuver around. Boss fights are unnecessarily too long. There are very few nodes on the tree that increase life, and thus EHP and max hits. Enemies swarm you, and this game doesn't give you abilities to move faster. Utility flasks have been replaced by a worse system called charms. Charms are bad. The flask well mechanic is a waste of time and useless. (hailing from poe1's ruthless) The gem system (also coming from ruthless) is NOT fun, and is VERY aggravating. It INTENTIONALLY LIMITS PLAYER BUILD CHOICES. It is a BAD system implementation and really REALLY sucks to play with. Support gems, when you can find them, offer choices that range between bad, and intentionally hurting your own ability to do damage. The game's first act is WAY TOO DARK, and enemies are very hard to see. Both of these (too dark, and enemies hard to see) create an annoying situation where the first act in the game, where players need to focus on LEARNING how to play, is not engaging. The developers just released a limited time league, instead of finishing the content that they promised from the start.

This game is very good. Best Microtransactions I've seen with limited FOMO and reasonable costs.

Lethal company is an over-rated game with a greedy (and lazy) developer that has become infinitely boring.

Please fight me in comments.

- The game has received two mediocre updates since release, despite the developer making 1.7 million minimum (based off review count), but probably 31.5 million (based off of estimated owner counts)
- It's been out for 3 months and we still have the seasonal content from Halloween
- The game has no official mod support (The current mods only exist because the game is built in unity which can be manipulated. The current mod scene is closer to hacking the game than modding it)
- The game has never been on sale (The price isn't the issue, it's the meaning behind the sale)
- The developer has a track record of creating games and then abandoning them (see "Welcome to the Dark Place")
- The developer intentionally uses low-fidelity filters in order to save himself the work of creating high quality textures (see literally any of their other games)

Genuinely not worth it. This game, at one point, had serious potential to be half decent VR CQB game, but unfortunately the developers haven't updated this game in over a year. This game is not is a "complete" state, not even close. Unless you are looking to burn money, I wouldn't buy this.

Here's hoping for a good ready-or-not esque VR game...

Not a good game honestly. Once Epic got their grimey hands on it they ruined it. Items are worthless, trading is dead, the GUI is garbage and the player experience has never been worse.
