I have never played an Atlus game before, and in truth I didn't think they were for me. (TLDR, it was my personal game of the year.)

I decided to try the Demo after seeing Metaphor be (rightfully) nominated for a lot of game of the year award categories. I am so pleased I did, the 6 hours of the Demo passed by so quickly and I was hooked into the story and world almost instantly.

My favourite part of this game is the character design. All the characters feel really unique, they don't stick to stereotypes and each character's story feels thoughtful. I especially love Heismay and Junah (who I didn't like when I first encountered her in the game.)

I look forward to any anime-style cut scene the game throws at me, the story is incredible and I really hope this isn't the last Metaphor-style game Atlus makes as Persona has no appeal to me because of the school-setting.

If you're sitting on the fence or you're worried this game isn't for you I can only implore you to at least try the demo for yourself and sit back for the catchiest battle-soundtrack of your life.

Happy new year everyone!

I just wanted to edit my review with a few negatives I found (didn't change my overall enjoyment) and implore anyone looking for a spoiler free experience (even though I tried not to include to many details - look away!)

I have three things that I struggled with:
1. Not all my achievements worked because I used the Demo first, their support team couldn't help me at all with this.
2. The last boss when you get to it is really really hard. I ran out of days and arrived at the last boss with no mana potions to my name. I kept saving over the same save file not expecting that I'd ever need to reload back to a certain point to complete the game and that made it super difficult and long and boring fight. There were some parts or features of the game that I feel like weren't as urgently pushed as others (for example you get reminders about supporter quests but not really about the Colosseum.)
3. Levelling up your 5 kingly attributes can get a bit repetitive
