Spell brigade is a charming game. The visuals look pretty and the wizards are cute.
Unfortunately it suffers from several things needed to keep it interesting. Wizard Unlocking is slow and almost meaningless. They don't have unique skills; the different starter spells per wizard are not unique and it doesn't really matter as you will always have 1-3 spells of your 4 that you ignore anyway.
The difficulty setting really only changes the fact that enemies become way way more spongy and you die in less hits.
The only mechanical difference in the difficulty setting is that the realm attack modifiers also show up more often (ie. in groups of 3)
With a half decent build due to your luck, killing the boss is a drawn out 20 minute snooze fest on the highest difficulty.

The boss is lackluster, having only one special move that is very easily dodged by simply playing the exact same way you have been.
And there is only 1 (ONE) boss. Every realm every difficulty, same boss.

The game has a lot of charm but ultimately runs boring as waves drag on with no real challenge.

Even better than I expected

Game is fun but is having some launch day issues with servers being overloaded. Party system is finicky but the game itself plays pretty fun. Objective modes are actually fun.

This game is very fun. Don't listen to anyone claiming it's pure RNG. The game is only RNG to get a stupidly easy run.
Any run is manageable if you know the mechanics in depth.

I've finally beat the main storyline so I'm writing a review.

The game is well worth the purchase. For now, while the servers are having issues, it's still fun to play offline mode and explore the world. I know there is plenty to do even after the main story is beat. Most of the bugs will be fixed in future patches and I fully believe in Sloclap fixing all gamebreaking bugs shortly.
The PVP is intense, and although I wish I could type my feelings to 'ButtSword69' I find that the emotes are actually a neat feature as it keeps most contacts to something different from most games (Really like DS). If there were text/voice it would probably end up getting pretty toxic

I really hope we end up getting free DLC as well as other updates. I'm fine with world expansion DLC costing some cash ($5-$10) as long as it doesn't end up giving new moves that some would consider unfair

*Yes, It is balanced. Some people are complaining that a great combo or really fast combo is unbeatable, but that's not true at all. I'm may not be good at the game, but if people are keeping up the same combo, It's really easy to hold your block, and watch. Learn there combo. They can't edit there deck midgame. Find out the perfect time to counter and do it. The best advice I can give is to study your opponent.

I'd easily rate this atleast 8/10. While I'd like more story, I also can't wait to enjoy PVP more when the servers are functioning smoothly.

Take Two should not feel the need to shut down free user generated content in order to sell more Shark Cards.
