EDIT: As of 12/13/2023 this game has changed for the better and I recommend it now. Slightly better story (its being worked on still woo!), the crafting is fleshed out, I no longer crash at all, the store still kinda sucks but there is a way to directly purchase base weapons now. Overall a great improvement from fatshark, but they still released a broken game and that shouldn't be forgotten.

---------------------------------------------------

An incomplete game sold for AA price.

The game crashes every other 20-30 minute match for me, on a "high end" PC (AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, NVIDIA 3080, game is on an SSD).

Weapons are on an hour cool down shop, where you are lucky to get a decent roll for a weapon you are looking for. Most of the time it'll be useless to what you want, though.

At the release of the game, the crafting system only had 1 out of 4 options available to it, and it was merely to increase the rarity of the item you wanted to craft. Now there are 2 out of 4 options available for crafting. Upgrading the rarity, and re rolling a certain aspect of the item. Bare bones crafting at best for a "complete" game.

The player base is already so low that the only real active difficulties are 1-3. The game has 1-5 difficulties, and the last two will have you waiting for 20 minutes for a full lobby (which is necessary).

The cash shop, which is cosmetics only, has seen the most updates. Also still garbage cosmetics that don't work with every customizable options you have for your character creation. You will most likely have to switch which head model you choose so there is no clipping that visible.

Also, on the topic of character creation, the only aspect that ACTUALLY matters is the voice you choose. None of the other options change anything within the game, and are only there to feel immersive at the start of your (depressing) Darktide journey.

There is no story, whatsoever. Other than being called useless by the people that talk to you during missions. This game was supposed to have the story written by Dan Abnett (Great Black Library author, and writer of many 40k books), or he was at least supposed to help, but it's so lack luster that it is hard to believe he did anything to contribute.

Lack of developer voices and only reliant on mediocre community managers has made communication feel almost non existent. Along with sparse game updates/changes make it feel like the developers don't care about the game.

I'd love for this game to be great and for me to be able to recommend it to my friends/other people, but at this point I cannot. It is an incomplete mess. I recommend you wait a year from now and purchase it when it is on sale. Or go and buy Vermintide 2. Another horde game made by Fatshark that has had the time to be fleshed out, and completed.
