This review comes from someone who despises MMORPGs.

Black Desert Online delivers one of the absolute most stunning PvP and PvE combat systems I have ever seen. This alone makes the game amazing, but lets go over the details.

Pros:
-Combat system is unparalleled
-Many PvE grind spots at different power levels
-Lots of content unrelated to pvp such as lifeskilling
-Massive Map to explore
-Lengthy storyline to follow
-WEEKLY UPDATES

Cons:
-Gear progression is largely RNG based
-Some classes dont stand up to others until they aquire softcap gear
-Slight pay for convenience

The first thing that got me into playing BDO was the sprawling map with stunning graphics that was yet and still has yet to be offered by other MMORPG titles. From there I chose my first class, Dark Knight, and fell in love with the combat system in both PVP and PVE. Gone are the days of smashing your Fx and numpad to spam spells, in are the days of memorizing key combinations to thread together seamless attacks, dodges and counterattacks. Open world PvP is not detrimental unless you go red and can reward youw ith a grindspot if you can outplay your opponent! The huge map sprawls across many different regions, from mountainous, to desert, to jungle, to ocean. Grind spots of varying difficulty and intensity dot the map to provide many options to grind silver and XP.

The only drawback of BDO is the enhancement. Enhancing your gear is RNG. its pretty easy at the start but as you progress to endgame gear, you find yourself going in circles as your gear can drop in levels if you fail a low percentage enhancement, leaving you to re-upgrade it and try again. If your RNG is abysmal like mine, you can instead opt to generate silver instead and buy your gear pre-enhanced off the player driven central marketplace.

The softcaps in this game, Lv 62, 261 ap are quite obtainable with lots of mechanisms implemented to aid new players in catching up to todays status quo. daily log in rewards, a board game to play for extra goodies, and daily quests for extra cash. there comes a time where you need to decide how invested into the game you are, as certain grind spots require a napharte campsite to grind efficiently, which costs a whopping 40 USD when on sale in the pearl shop. but with the low pricetag this game carries and how many hours you have invested into the game by the time the tent is required the money doesnt seem like a waste, and supports the dev team in their weekly updates. Yes. BDO is updated every Wednesday morning in NA. new events and challenges, as well as balance changes and bugfixes galore keeps everyone with fresh content to play!

This game is a cheap, beautiful, challenging, yet satisfying MMORPG and perfect for rookies and veterans of the MMORPG Genre alike.
