I can't even review the game on merit, because the second I step into Metropolis, performance absolutely tanks. We're talking going from full 75FPS to a stuttering mess of 30-60 (even when staying still), coupled with the audio ducking in and out, or outright breaking.

Can't even just quit the game when it gets like this - attempting to pause or go to options causes the game to lock up with a loading symbol that never seems to load anything. I have to kill the game in task manager to get out of there.

Edit: Nevermind, patch fixed everything, and added some much needed customization!

Grab it if you can, it's pretty dang fun!

OUTDATED -
Fun and simple but currently nearly unplayable. A constant and as of yet unavoidable bug leaves increasing numbers of customers stuck walking into each-other/shelves permanently, leaving the the stuff they picked up unusable and unsellable.

Additionally, upon buying the storage room and hiring an inventory stocker, they took the first box of product and ran into the same issue. What makes this ostensibly worse, is that unlike the customers, who despawn when the day ends, the stocker does not reset, and was permanently stuck holding the box of product without putting it on any shelf. This, coupled with having to pay them daily regardless, makes this bug "nearly" game breaking.

I've missed out on countless sales, as well as straight up LOST at least a thousand or two in inventory thanks to this bug.

I cannot recommend buying until it is fixed, but considering the last update was March 13 of 2024, I don't have high hopes.

TL;DR: APB Reloaded in 2024 is a ghost town plagued by pay-to-win mechanics, rampant cheating, and a publisher, GamersFirst, more interested in squeezing every penny from players than delivering a quality experience. With a nonexistent community, broken promises, and a laughable anti-cheat system, it's a game best left untouched.
__________________________________________________________

APB Reloaded, once a beacon of potential in the gaming world, now stands as a grim testament to the consequences of corporate greed and neglect. In the year 2024, this once-promising title has devolved into a desolate wasteland, devoid of any semblance of a thriving community. What remains are but a handful of stubborn players, either blissfully ignorant or hopelessly resigned to the game's myriad flaws.

One of the most glaring issues plaguing APB Reloaded in 2024 is its complete lack of an active player base. Attempting to engage in any form of meaningful progression or competitive gameplay is an exercise in futility, as the sparse population renders any semblance of community-driven content virtually non-existent. Without a critical mass of players, the game stagnates, leaving even the most dedicated enthusiasts grasping at the remnants of a once-vibrant experience.

Furthermore, APB Reloaded's descent into pay-to-win madness is nothing short of disgraceful. The game's monetization model shamelessly prioritizes cash shop purchases over player skill and dedication, effectively rendering any attempt to compete on a level playing field futile. Progression is not a matter of skill or effort but rather a question of one's willingness to open their wallet and feed into the insatiable greed of the game's unscrupulous publisher, GamersFirst.

Speaking of GamersFirst, it's essential to highlight just how abhorrent their practices have been throughout APB Reloaded's tumultuous lifespan. This company has consistently demonstrated a blatant disregard for player satisfaction, instead opting to squeeze every last penny from its dwindling player base through predatory monetization schemes and broken promises. Their acquisition of APB Reloaded, once a promising venture, has transformed it into little more than a cash cow to be milked dry at the expense of player enjoyment and integrity.

And let's not forget about the laughable excuse for an anti-cheat system that APB Reloaded supposedly boasts. In reality, this so-called protection against cheating is about as effective as a paper umbrella in a hurricane. Cheaters run rampant, turning what little remains of the game's competitive scene into a farcical circus of exploits and hacks. It's a slap in the face to the dwindling number of honest players who still cling to the hope of a fair and balanced gaming experience.

Perhaps most egregious of all is the sheer audacity of GamersFirst's sluggishness in implementing promised updates and improvements. It took nearly a decade for basic enhancements like 64-bit support and engine updates to materialize, leaving players to languish in a state of perpetual disappointment and frustration. It's a stark reminder of just how little regard the company has for the loyal fanbase that has endured endless trials and tribulations in the vain hope of revitalizing a game that should have been put out of its misery long ago.

In conclusion, APB Reloaded in 2024 is nothing more than a hollow shell of its former self, a cautionary tale of corporate greed and neglect run amok. With no active community to speak of, rampant pay-to-win mechanics, a laughable anti-cheat system, and a publisher more interested in lining its pockets than delivering a quality gaming experience, it's clear that APB Reloaded is little more than a decaying relic of a bygone era. Save yourself the time and frustration and steer clear of this once-promising but now thoroughly tarnished title.

Disclaimer: This review was "written" with assistance from ChatGPT. The points are entirely based on my own impressions, but I require assistance with dictation and expression.

Pros:
- The game's art direction is nothing short of breathtaking, immersing players in a world teeming with intricate detail and vibrant color.

- Delving into Chilean mythology adds a layer of depth and authenticity to the narrative, making for a truly unique adventure.

Cons:
- Despite its beauty, combat in Abyss Odyssey feels clunky and repetitive, lacking the fluidity and depth needed to keep players engaged.

- The weapon and gearing system falls short of expectations, offering little in the way of meaningful customization or progression. One glaring issue being that the vast majority of available options tend to be significant downgrades at worst, or equal in strength and value to whatever weapon or accessories you already possess, regardless of dungeon progression or character level.

- Leveling and experience gains feel like an afterthought, failing to have any significant impact on gameplay.

- Facing off against cheap and overwhelming enemies can quickly turn frustration into despair, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the experience. Expect nigh inescapable stunlocks in every encounter.

- Unlockable characters add little value, serving as yet another tedious grind for leveling and unlocking abilities, rather than enriching the gameplay experience.

- The procedural level generation system often feels repetitive, leading to aimless meandering and multiple dead ends with no reward.

- Platforming hazards, at times unfairly placed, exacerbate the already tiresome journey to the next dungeon, coupled with the previously mentioned issues regarding combat encounters, make progression exhausting.

Fantastic game

When it works.
Irreparably broken, most known fixes no longer work or there are just other issues with no fixes.
