The first game is one of my favorite games ever, and I was worried this wouldn't live up to it. Thankfully, it absolutely does. Everything I was worried about turned out to be non-issues. Jaw-dropping visuals, fluid controls, interesting overworld, satisfying combat, great soundtrack, a fair but challenging difficulty level, and more content than the first game, at the expense of only a weaker story and a few technical issues. 10/10, GOTY, and maybe even among the best games I've ever played.

A fun and adorable 3D platformer that takes the best parts of classic 3D platformers and Gamecube games and adds new twists and ideas. It's a bit short (8-10 hours) and possibly too nonsensical for some, but the precise controls, amazing music and clever level design more than make up for the minor shortcomings it has. Plus, it's got free DLC coming out soon, as well as workshop support leaving beta. Highly recommended to any platformer or gamecube fan.

Hyper Light Drifter does not hold your hand, it does not give you thorough tutorials, it does not explain what you're doing and why, and it does not go easy on you. This game may be a response to modern games that are overly expository but offer no challenge. This game is very challenging and offers no explanations. It lets you figure everything out on your own. And by God is it good.

The game plays a little bit like a 2D Zelda game. You're given an top-down perspective and need to explore and battle your way through a mysterious world with your sword and other weapons you find along the way.
Battles involve dashing, slashing, and shooting enemies. They're fast-paced and satisfying, relying almost entirely on skill.
Like Zelda, it also has puzzles and a great deal of exploration. The world is large and mysterious. Secret areas and hidden items are scattered absolutely everywhere and it's fun and always worth it to explore and find them.
The visual style is distinctive and striking, yet minimal, relying on neon pixel art. Very few bugs popped up during my playthrough, and the game is constantly receiving updates and fixes. The game isn't particularly long: It's only around 8 hours straight through for a decent player, but the sheer amount of collectibles and secrets make up for that.

It's not a perfect game: the story might be too cryptic for its own good. After playing through the whole thing, I'm still not entirely sure what it's about.
Its high level of difficulty can occasionally be frustrating, especially in the boss battles, which can be quite hard.
This game is also the best argument for octo-gates on a controller I've seen: it's hard to line up dashes perfectly horizontally and vertically, but thankfully the game compensates for that a little.

Overall it's a fantastic game. Many indie games on Steam try to bring back the challenge and style of 8 and 16-bit console games, but Hyper Light Drifter succeeds. It's not for everyone, but I would highly recommend it for those looking for an old-school challenge.

I went into VVVVVV not knowing what to expext. But boy, it delivered. The gravity switching concept is brilliant, the level design is fantastic, the music is catchy as hell, and although it might be short, I enjoyed every minute. This is a brilliant example of how amazing and fun indie games can be.

I've never been much of a shooter person. And then I played TF2. I was HOOKED. The enormous community, the variety of items and weapons, the teamwork... A lot of work went into designing a game that was fun, varied, and balanced. And they pulled it off with aplomb. No matter what your play style, there's a class that will fit it. Like stealth? Take a spy. Like heading right into the heat of battle? Try a heavy. Everything about this game is so well made, and it keeps you coming back for more.
