Reviewing this game after getting the 100% achievement by beating it twice, I can confidently say that this game is truly amazing. It is very reminiscent of classic survival horror titles like Resident Evil. The gameplay features a lot of excellent puzzles that never feel too confusing or too easy. They have honestly managed to do what Resident Evil couldn’t…strike the perfect balance in puzzle difficulty.

The gameplay is very enjoyable, offering plenty of enemy variety: some have shields, some have excellent view ranges while others do not; some are faster, while others prefer to ambush you. It’s a really well-rounded mix. There are plenty of guns, and the game encourages you to use your resources wisely. On survival difficulty, the gameplay changes a lot…you’ll need to find ways to sneak around enemies and avoid them as much as possible, since they can kill you in just 2-3 hits, even from full health. You’ll find out how little killing you actually have to do to beat the game.
The story is also quite good, although you need to do a lot of reading to get what is happening. There are multiple endings, and the way to achieve them is highly dependent on your playstyle which is a refreshing change from the usual choice of “kill A or B” to get different outcomes. I must say I’m more impressed by the gameplay than the story, though I’m sure many fans appreciated the story more than I did.

One thing to note is that you might not finish the game by accident. The game is longer than you might think.

TL;DR: Overall, the developers did a solid job, and this game stands on the level of some of my favorite Resident Evil titles. I’m glad to have found my first 10/10 of the year.
