An amazing game that was my go-to roguelike with the basegame and Survivors of the Void. A very robust game that was definitely worth the price and, in my opinion, could be considered one of the greats of all time in terms of the genre. However, the recent update that released alongside Seekers of the Storm (A DLC I have also purchased and played), has introduced bugs that cannot be explained. For example, now Void Infestors are launched horizontally out of Void Cradles rather than vertically. Scavengers interact poorly with the new items, one even reaching 624 stacks of Chronic Expansion upon spawning and disabling my ability to fire, crashing the game upon being hit by a Shuriken that was launched by Ballista.

I am disappointed to see how buggy this game has become with the recent update, especially considering my former love for it. As it stands, I think the base game and Survivors of the Void are worth your money, but Seekers of the Storm falls short of the mark set by previous presentations. It is riddled with questionable decisions, as if Gearbox put on a Hopoo Games skinsuit and attempted to sell off the DLC for, what is currently, about the same price as Risk of Rain 2 with Survivors of the Void combined. While I can see potential in what is presented with Seekers of the Storm, I do not want to provide a review based on what it could be, instead of what it is.

In a social media post by Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, there was a claim that there is jank they "just sort of tolerated".
The DLC was, in fact, entirely a Gearbox effort. I hope they can stick to their word of being committed to the future of RoR by fixing the mistakes they have created.
