After playing 2000 hours on a second account, I can confidently say that the game is awesome, but it requires a lot of free time and dedication (nerdiness). Fortunately, there are plenty of servers for practicing your aim and raiding.

It’s more fun and easier with friends, but you can also find solo adventures that will keep you on your toes!
Cheaters exist, mostly on official servers. On private servers like Rustoria, etc., there are fewer of them since admins ban them quickly, but macro users remain, and they’re harder to detect—anti-cheat doesn’t catch them :( However, if you improve your skills, you’ll easily outplay those losers since they don’t know how to play properly!
Once again, I recommend it if you have a lot of free time to dedicate to this game!

UPD 2023: The game is getting more and more updates, and there’s honestly too much content now, along with buggy DLCs. Updates come almost every month, which makes the game get boring really fast...
BUT. Even though the game is slowly declining, it remains my favorite and nostalgic...
