Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial land tank outside Rubicon. He's well protected. But with the right team we can punch through their defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

It's your good ol Carmageddon formula but in current gen graphics and technology, pretty fun arcade game, it was fun in the 90's and still is fun in 201X-ish

i like when the bullet goes *CLING* on ninjaman sword

pretty good stuff this game, there's a lot of Hotline Miami influence (not talking about the visuals here), but its its own stuff, not just a copycat, the story is a big rabbit hole for the player to dive into and I liked how they weaved the respawn mechanics/time stuff into the story, very polished game, tight controls, super satisfying to combo through enemies without using the time control.

the downside is that is a bit short, and a score system would be cool.

pretty good game.

Early Access Review
I was very sceptical of the 3D evolution, Risk of Rain 1 was a very pretty game with unique visuals, tight controls and characters, so I was a little worried the 3D were to screw all that, but to my suprise, ROR2 feels very precise, its beautiful, and keeps the same charm the first one had.

It's pretty nice, but remember, this is an early access title, it feels pretty complete, but it has no final boss/ending, fewer items and characters, keep that in mind, bugs-wise it feels very polished, didn't encounter a single bug in like 6 hours.

EDIT: Now that the game is fully developed and released, with even a DLC coming in a few weeks, I gotta say, this is the best roguelite right now, there is something very special about looping for the first time and the game turning everything to 11, its insane, pure chaos, Hopoo you absolute madman, you did it again.

I already played it extensively on PS4.

For AC veterans, its basically 4+5 with some bits of Zero on top of it, the story in general is alright most of the time, albeit some character progression and plot points are missing, but you'll get some of that sweet and tasty symbolism the games are known for, Kono really likes his Norse mythology huh.

If you are new to the series you can start here too, since all the stories on AC games are self-contained, you don't need to know the story of past games to understand it whole (but please consider playing 4, 5 and Zero please)

Gameplay wise its the best on the series, its your good ol' Ace Combat gameplay, but this time with PSM (Post-Stall Manouvers) and weather shenanigans like turbulences, clouds, thunder and rain etc, that factor alone makes it worthy to replay most of the missions since it offers a nice challenge, planes feel weighty like in 4, but not like a brick, you can feel the differences in each plane very well, and you need to play each plane to their strenghts to accomplish the mission, specially on higher difficulties where the points requirements are high and the enemy planes are plenty, that feels great.

Sound design, OST and such is top notch, specially the OST, man It is good I tell you, Kobayashi did an amazing job again and the OST fits the themes of the game very very well, instant classic.

The only lacking part its the multiplayer, no Co-op, just TDM and DM, after making Infinity you'll think that Project Aces would take some of that sweet Co-op and PVE activities and slap 'em here right? nope, no co-op.

The PC port is weird, it doesn't crash but the perfomance dances around if you get to super high framerates (200+) like it goes to 240fps no sweat and then it gets stuttery and choppy around 150-160fps, it works well on normal machine but of the higher end you may encounter this issue, fast loading screens, there are some bugs with Widescreen support and some HOTAS that are being worked on right now, some workarounds exists if you really REALLY want to play an arcade flight game with a HOTAS, but as a AC veteran I recommend a controller.

Overall a great game, not quite there on the Holy Trilogy level of quality, but way better than 6, a solid Ace Combat entry in my eyes, worth the 12 years of waiting, it just needs more multiplayer modes.

AND for the love of god, DO NOT USE the novice controls, use the EXPERT controls, you'll have full use of your aircraft, novice controls are much more limited and hard, they will limit your experience.
