A Plague Tale Innocence is a truly great, linear, story-driven game. I really liked the characters, the voice acting, the story and the well captured medieval atmosphere. The stealth gameplay is good fun and interspersed with well done puzzles. It never feels like a walking simulator or like it is too light on gameplay. There is a good balance between (stealth-focused) gameplay, light exploration, puzzle solving and the narrative parts.
The game is mostly fair. There isn't too much trial & error. The final fight posed a bit of a challenge due to its difficulty spike (spoiler-free hint: turn up your mouse and aim sensitivity to max!) but it was doable after a few tries. Well, quite a few tries in my case ;) .
Graphics and sound are AAA quality. The performance is decent and I had zero crashes throughout my ~18 hours with the game. It is technically near flawless (there was an ever so minor loading hitch occasionally).
The game was a nice diversion from the current open world GaaS trend because of its much more focused approach. I especially enjoyed the well written story and characters, both of which has become an unfortunate rarity in most modern games. Not here though. Following the story of Amicia and Hugo de Rune was the digital equivalent to reading a page turner. A highly recommended game overall!
