Slight reuse of assets throughout the game drag it down a tiny bit, but this game is definitely the most accessible and beginner friendly the Soulsborne series has ever been. Having a problem with a boss or area? Go another way, there'll be something else to do in the meanwhile to get some runes (this game's version of souls), upgrade materials, or new summons to use. Having a problem with a boss or set of bosses? Use one of the higher tier ashes to summon a powerful ally who can take some of the heat for you. Definitely well worth trying regardless of your history with From Software's releases.

Early Access Review
Bolt action snipers are one shot to too much of the body leading to matches where 80% of players use them and nothing else can compete. ARs other than the AK equivalent cannot compete if the enemy can control the aim decently well, hit registration is atrocious, there have been multiple times where I've shot the enemy directly in the torso with the aforementioned bolt action snipers only to see a spurt of blood, no hitmarker, and no damage to the opponent. Task registration is awful as well, where a task like "kill 100 of a certain PvE enemy with only sidearms" will only trigger upon using the starter pistol, as well as only counting a tenth of the actual number of kills. PvP bugs can range from Play of the Game crashing the game regularly, to game breaking things like the escort objective moving on its own despite no one being near it. Wait for a weapon rebalance patch, and bug fixes before trying.

A fairly janky experience with a unique world, with interactions I've not seen in another game since, unless that game is mimicking this game. The story left me underwhelmed, but I failed to notice the quest that leads to the true ending (hint: meet the guide). Exploration is quite good, with anomalies, artifacts, stashes, and somewhat poorly organized sidequests having a wide array of things to look for. Some sidequests are repeatable, others aren't, but generally doing them is a good idea. Well worth at least a single playthrough, but definitely enjoyed more on a second or third playthrough once you've got knowledge of how the game works.

It's playable now. But don't play it. If you make the mistake of playing it, max out the DPS.

Incredibly frustrating game that provides difficulty by wasting your time, reducing your skills as days go by, making you lose fights purely from not having the energy to get attacks in/avoid getting knocked down/etc. Drastically increases the cost for skills for each one you acquire. You're unable to enter into a fight without filling EVERY skill slot, even if that'd be a bad idea, forcing you to take skills you don't want to use if you made the mistake of buying an upgrade for an extra slot.

A boring survival game whose horror and stress relies on not being able to see in the caves, making it so you cannot tell if there are threats out there. Once the threats appear and you are able to fight them off, the game loses all scares. The combat is janky and poorly balanced due to relying on mechanics designed around survival (axe swings meant for chopping down trees, not fighting). Story is uninteresting, final boss is a poorly designed joke unless you have one of two long ranged weapons, at which point it becomes a boring slog.

A grenade bounced off a wall at the wrong angle back at me and killed me.

A somewhat visually impressive puzzle game that seeks to explain nothing to the player. An admirable idea that only succeeds if the game can manage to properly teach the player what they do through subtle clues, which it failed to do for me, either through my own ineptitude or the game's. Several puzzles also have needlessly long animations or processes that do little outside of wasting the player's time.
