Incredibly basic game. Just tunnel straight down and gather the mandatory upgrades. Stopped bothering to even get money after about an hour. Accidentally got some speedrunning achievement.

I tried the alpha and hated it but honestly it's really good. I just had to get over it being different from the first game. The soundtrack is so good, the art is improved, there's even more tiny little details from combat to enjoy. Lots of new mechanics that may or may not matter depending on your team composition.

I would love a much more fantasy-inspired UI. The super clean boxes don't do the game and setting justice. The opening splash screens gave me a little bit of nostalgia with their simplicity but I lost it once the actual game started. Some mossy cobblestones or stonework or anything really would really go that extra mile to boost the feeling the game provides. It's a cute yet punishing DnD-esque game atmosphere should be one of the highest priorities.

Still gotta play through it much more for a proper opinion but so far I'm having fun.

Every enemy absolutely destroyed by this one simple trick of holding 'S'. Nice setting, visuals, music, atmosphere, lore, all very well done. Gameplay is beyond boring. Another lefty who excels at visuals yet falls flat on their face when actual gameplay design comes up, many such cases... So many systems that could be really interesting. Lunacy from magic just makes you do and take more damage and increases XP- wowie! Ranged combat just annihilates anything and there's no response from enemies such as luring you around corners, running, hiding, their own ranged attacks, they just walk forward. Maps are very linear with one big important thing to interact with generally to let you know you did your job in that area. They encourage revisiting areas but that's basically just coming back when you can jump higher and you get a spell super early that just breaks the game and lets you go anywhere. Melee combat could so easily have directional swings or different moves at different charges. Inventory is annoying to navigate and I've just barely started to fill it. Character customization is pointless because nothing is locked behind stats and once you clear out your first room of enemies you'll have leveled enough to stat into whatever you want and you're probably gonna wanna stat into everything because it's all important except for health I suppose since nothing can harm you unless you're getting bored of pacing back and forth power swinging so you just face tank them to speed it up a little.

Dunno why the dev decided to release this on Halloween. It's so under-baked. Put it back for another couple months.

So I beat the game and got the true ending. Which you get by just doing the only stuff available in this husk of a game. If I decided to skip the 3 interactive elements in the game I guess I'd get something else? What a snorefest lol.

The most open so far and shockingly the most linear. If I don't want to stop and eat let me drive past the diner and be hungry later. The post had food I could have eaten- or not eaten still cause I'm not a robot. Add choices, add consequences, make me regret what I did. These games aren't scary when you realize you're just knocking things off a checklist. The horrible soundcloud rap music needs to go too. Just let me take over as creative director cause this guy has no clue what he's doing.

Once again too linear. Needing to get up to piss before homework after already pissing because the plot demands it was pointless. They attempted to put in a puzzle with the password then he just texts you something totally unrelated to the clue cause I guess it was too hard to put a cat's name somewhere in the house. You're told to buy something for yourself at the store but it never lets you choose. Any sort of agency, even meaningless choices, aren't given. You just walk forward. Very boring setting, lame setup, asset flips are painfully obvious in this one too.

If these weren't so linear they'd be pretty good. Choosing to walk down the road rather than crank your car for hours would be way more tense not knowing if anyone's ever coming. Multiple people pulling over trying to judge who's a good person. Actually being able to text your parents and get responses. Not being railroaded into drinking coffee, etc and actually getting into danger normally.

What they managed to achieve with Build is ridiculous. That first racing segment was incredible. I have had to without fail resort to guides for one secret per level so far. Never the big secrets or anything normal just something so incredibly tucked away no sane person would ever look there. Even on the hardest difficulty I'm still constantly maxed out on ammo (using it to blow up corpses, even) so if you're vaguely good at videogames you'll still feel like this games way too easy compared to say Blood or Shadow Warrior. The bike is fun but way too powerful with no real downsides besides not being able to strafe much and who cares when everything in front of you gets gibbed in 2 seconds.

Turn off autoaim for the love of god.
