Not worth the price, even at free.

I played the "hand-to-hand" character and the entire experience was filled with frustration. Attacks that should hit miss with the enemies right in the middle of the screen, in my face. Or the wrong enemy will get targeted. The same key will be mapped to multiple actions and completely interrupt what you're trying to do. The uppercut just flat-out does not work on stairs when enemies are below you. Insta-kills will be interrupted because the zombie's head is too close to a wall, or they moved too much (you're also very vulnerable during the animation, which you can accidentally start because it's bound to the same key as kick).

It's so close to being good. Everything is there, it just needed a little more time in the oven. When it works, the gameplay is fun and rewarding, but it just doesn't work most of the time.

I've played earlier version of Dwarf Fortress in the past, and enjoyed the overall idea of the game. However, the terrible user interface kept me from being able to make any decent forts (or so I suspected) until this version. After a couple failed attempts, I've finally been able to make a fort that runs well and has become the capital (an all-time first for me). It's so much clearer what's happening in game with the new graphics, and menus finally feel sane and human-usable. If you had a hard time getting into the game in the past, give this version a try.

Inscryption leads with an extremely compelling gameplay + thematic hook. However, the following two acts feel like more of a slog than anything else. Luckily, the addition of Kaycee's Mod (an official part of the game, not a real mod) keeps the gameplay of Act 1 and expands upon it in interesting ways. If you enjoy horror themes and roguelike deckbuilders like Slay the Spire, you'll probably like this.
