Completely understandable, randoms can be a pain in the ass. You guys probably would've had us dead to rights if they didn't set off those cows.

Fair enough. I'm assuming that you've played enough that you can see how I might associate what happened with "rat like" tactics. But for sure, I don't pass up a good opportunity when it presents itself. I just don't play with a focus on 3rd partying fights. Part of it is just my frustration that I kept getting linked up with randoms who can't see the flaw with run towards a team/fight/noise, take a couple shots and then just sit there and wait to get sandwiched. That and a million other annoying things randoms (particularly SA players) do that just ruins an otherwise good game.

Brother, it was just really bad luck, honestly. Our 3rd crashed to desktop, so we were waiting for him to reconnect. In those 20-ish seconds, we heard the cows/crows/etc and decided to ambush.

Like you said, they set off a ton of sound traps. Am I supposed to just ignore that?

We ran towards bounties right after, you probably would've been behind us if our guy didn't DC. And if you were behind us during a bounty fight, I don't think you'd have any reservations about shooting us in the back.

I get what you're saying though, there are some people who just play like rats for kills. I don't like them either. But this was just bad luck.

Clearly I'm frustrated but I don't think I'm wrong to say that if everyone plays slows and avoids objectives the player base will die off for anyone who actually wants to play the game, not just an old western team death match with AI in the way.

The overwhelming tendency for players to avoid objectives and relentlessly try to 3rd party/ambush/whatever other rat tactics is tiring to a majority of players. In our fight we grabbed the clue, your team either spawned nearby and delayed moving to the clue or spawned a compound away and avoided your clue/objective and immediately moved to our compound (my super smart team decided to hit every sound trap know to man). As a singular instance it's whatever, but it's become the norm particularly at the higher MMR's I've somehow wandered in to. That scenario motivates players to play slower and turn the game from Hunt: Showdown in to Wait: Slowdown. Look I'm not saying it's not effective, but is sure as ♥♥♥♥ isn't fun for the majority of players I play with to just wait around for everyone else to engage in the game's flow and mechanics and then just try to pick them off while engaged or in the open.
