Early Access Review
edit (2023): after several hundred hours I can confidently say: if you want to ENJOY the game, play on the Warden faction because Colonials are specifically designed to not win. After 14 months the dev's still have not addressed the rampant Warden faction bias, since they have repeatedly given the warden faction better tanks, better naval, and better infantry gear. Colonials have ONE good weapon: their hand grenade. Thats it.

edit (2024): Game is still heavily warden skewed. Best weapon is now Fiddler, best tank is now Outlaw, best ship is Nakki. Also colonial grenade got gutted, So yeah: play warden to have fun, play colonial for a challenge.

OG review (2022):

The illegitimate love-child between Factorio x World War 1. Foxhole has a unique blend of having a lot to do but not seeing the impact of your actions directly. You participate in a real time war as a soldier doing their part. There are two "main" branches of playstyle in Foxhole: a front line trooper armed with a steadily unlocking tech and vehicles over time, or a logistics player: mining resources, building fortifications and driving supply trucks to the front line.

For the most part I've been playing logi and the game is very enjoyable, There is nothing like spending a few hours preparing resources, loading tanks into ships, and then deploying your valuable munitions into the hands of die hard soldier players... causing them to push in and claim an enemy stronghold. Satisfaction S+.

The combat is a bit meh, usually die to explosive and gas grenades. It has its fun moments, me personally I enjoy charging into the enemy flank with a bayonette at the ready.
