I have been playing this game for what feels like 15 years and thousands of hours.

You can't just play this game like you're gonna waste a few hours if you're jumping in blind and fresh. Grab this on a steam sale and set aside a weekend to go deep. You need to play this game like you hate the DM of your DnD group and want to make him pull his hair out and the feeling is mutual. They didnt write the rules but he will try and abuse them as much as you are to try and get one over you. Expect nonoptimal builds starting out, even the game's preset builds have a wide variance in quality. The tower sign is useless, enchanting is simultaneously the most grindy useless capped skill but also a way to break the game in half.
Don't be afraid to go through the intro again. The speedrun is just over 2 minutes long and the intro is a minute 30 of it, and they go deep on it.
Experiment, Explore and Discover a game that even Todd himself wants you to play in its Raw dated format, refusing even the notion of a remaster. This game is a masterpiece, a flawed buggy and doubtlessly silly mess but a masterpiece nonetheless
