A lot about this game is good. The art, atmosphere, the music, and the rhythm of combat. The core gameplay is fun, hence my hours.

Conversely, a lot about it is bad, particularly in regards to the development cycle and the team. Updates are always far between and oftentimes underwhelming. I am not holding out hope for the upcoming one whatsoever. The dev team flip-flops on things, between the weapon customization, which the "game isn't cod" was the response by the team and was promptly laughed at for that, to the promised solo mode they kept baiting before deciding "we're not pursuing it at this time"

Solo modes are an industry standard. Every horde game has it, including Fatshark's previous game Vermintide 2. Why they have been unable to implement it is beyond me, especially when mods already have, as have mods added weapon customization. All of which was in the game's code already. I don't believe in mods elevating a game in terms of reviews, so the fact these features are being done by modders as a hobby, but a professional team of developers can't is very annoying.

This all stems from the disastrous launch of Darktide and how they floundered since. They're only just now fixing the weapon rolls with this upcoming update, a whole two years after launch. Frankly, it was not ready in 2022 and it still isn't now. Unfortunately, that's just Fatshark's modus operandi, Vermintide 2 had the exact same rocky start and teeth-gnashing dev cycle only becoming a good game WAY later in its lifetime. I expect Darktide will be the same, but for now, I do not recommend the game.
