Skyforge is a fantastic idea, the combat is entertaining with a high skill cap. The content the game has to offer is horrid while still being extremely unique. They keep their playerbase somewhat active by updating the level cap and gear every 2 months and players fear the idea of getting behind since it's hard catching up either way mixed feelings since the game is stunning with a nice community.

The lack of content is what's killing the game or what's been happening since invaders were here. They cycle through a series of enemies which you're able to defeat throughout the year, problem is that nothing new is being added. For me this contributed to my personal downfall of the game. Killing these enemies and reaching certain milestones feels extremely rewarding but when it's the 4th year of killing the same thing over and over again the game loses that spark. You're forced to play everyday to max a bonus rank which gives you extra resistance and damage against the current invader which resets when invaders come. Basically hard work wiped in an eye-blink. I am not against grinding but the levels on how repetitive a game can get are high after doing the same thing everyday. So much effort put in for little reward in the end especially if you've done all there is to this game.

Skyforge is a grind heavy game, even though they made it easier to reach the softcap the items and skills are still locked by behind a currency that is low after playing for months. You'll need to play 70-100 hours to reach somewhere near the softcap. I want to recommend the game if you have alot of spare time since it won't be a problem. I seem to notice how people complain about the p2w items in the game. You don't need these items if you're not playing in the endgame. Simple argument is that you will play in a scaled environment so it doesn't matter if the items are from this generation or prior invasions since it's scaled. What matters are the gear stats and what not, either way they make your weapons weak after a few years reducing the damage they deal and obviously make you want to replace them which costs money. I am not against them earning money since every game/publisher has to get money out of any source but it doesn't feel rewarding in the end.

While the game comes over as stunning, unique and refreshing after playing for a year you'll start to notice you will grind for the same thing which becomes tedious. It's like having a second job, I cannot recommend the game if you're bored easily since at some point you have the urge to quit which is fine since it's good to let the game for once in a while.
