The more I play and revisit TF2 lately, the more I realise how much I truly adore this game.
TF2 seems, to me, to be the only FPV multiplayer shooter where any game strategy is rewarded; skill in any tactic can be utilised to its fullest extent. When I was young, I just shot heads, and still had fun and passed as a player in casual. Now, I study the strategies of the pros and try to create my own for each map and class based on what those better than I do - I've yet to encounter any other game for which this is normal.
The charm of TF2's art style still holds up over a decade and a half later, which cannot be said of many other games, yet it is plagued:
I want to write a positive review, I really do, but the rampant treachery of bots in public servers nowadays is making a shambles of public servers. It's a disgrace to a game that holds such glory as titles go, to see that nothing is done about the sheer pollution of its servers.
How many games have their own economy, from which some people literally make a living? Not many but TF2!
But, here we are, TF2 being destroyed in front of us.
I know this review will reach no-one and will be relatively insignificant, but Valve, fix this masterpiece.
As soon as the bot problem is fixed, consider my review positive, but as it stands I feel like I'm watching a mighty ship burn and die away, while even the devs look on and pretend it's ok. Please, I implore you, fix TF2.
