Pleasantly surprised with this game. There have been a lot of issues with this game recently (For Oculus users) after the update that added in smooth locomotion. Great thing is that SteamVR beta just recently patched the game and it isn't stuttering and showing the issues anymore. Also, I had to revert to an older Nvidia driver (390.65) since the newest driver ruined all the textures.

I just recently got into VR about 2 weeks ago and I heard there was a lot of backlash with this game. I wasn't there when the game first came out so I never really experienced its launch. One big thing was probably only having teleportation as the movement mechanic. The recent update added in smooth locomotion which in my opinion makes the game feel like Doom. I can't imagine playing this game without fast-paced movement. Of course, you'll need your VR legs (I've never felt motion sick in VR ever so I'm lucky). I'm having tons of fun just blasting demons with the large arsenal you have at your disposal.

Of course there are a few problems I have with the game. The "Glory Kills" are very underwhelming. It would've been cool if Glory Kills were implemented by actually grabbing parts of demons and just ripping them apart or punching them, kind of like a combination of Gorn and Robo Recall. There's also this hub section you keep returning to after each mission which in my opinion slows the game down a lot and ruins the pacing for me. Doom is the type of game where you just run around and shoot things. Putting out a fire with a fire extinguisher is the least of my concerns.

Coming from someone who's first experience is from the new update that added in smooth locomotion, I can recommend this game. Despite its flaws, I'm still having a ton of fun.
