There's so much I'm annoyed by, but damn its such a fun game to overcome my complaints. If they can fix all of the bugs and add some QoL features the game could be incredible. The Age of Heroes sending people on quests and Age of Discovery going on expeditions added so much flavor!

Just please delete the battle screen and add an end of game scoring one. I need to laugh at how horribly inefficient my setup was.

The hotfixes appear to have fixed the most critical of bugs as we haven't run into them. We did have a visual bug where our health didn't update for one turn after being party healed.

Overall the experience has been very similar to For the King, and I am very happy so far!

If you like other Rogue-lite deckbuiding games like Slay the Spire(StS) then this is a fun game to check out. I don't see myself putting in quite the same number of hours into the game as StS, but I can see myself putting in 25-50. I don't find myself playing just to try out different builds like I did in StS. Instead I'm trying out the different characters which just has the feel that replayabiltiy isn't quite as high.

DISCLAIMER: I haven't fully beaten the game. Just beaten the first run-through. There is apparently significantly more content after winning the first time, so replayability may be higher than I'm guessing.

Pros:
- Quirky Graphics: The weird causes a blur on the screen which makes the world look like a painting.
- 9 Different characters. As of this review I've unlocked all but 2
- Challenging but interesting gameplay
- Characters meet power fantasies. I won with the blood mage, and I felt all powerful as I gave up life to gain power.
Cons:
- Confusing interactions: This may get better the more times I play, but starting out on a few characters it was difficult to see how they flowed. I found myself suddenly dead multiple times because of interactions between my mobs attacking on top of enemy buffs. Calculating how much damage you will take as the summoner left me confused.
- Deckbuilding isn't clean. Again this may get better the more I play, but I find understanding if removing a card from the deck helps is murky. This isn't like Slay the Spire or Monster Train where there are more obvious choices.
- Unbalanced characters. This is hard to fault the developers, but I went from struggling but getting slightly better with some characters to rolling the entire game with one. It was so easy I had to stop. The only way to lose was to get super unlucky.

Overall I am enjoying the game. Its much easier to find issues, but the game just came out which means growing pains for both the developer and the players.

Puzzle Box is a neat game that kept me thinking throughout the game. I kept wanting more. The final puzzle took me awhile, but felt rewarding to complete.
My only critique is just let me jump through the doorway dammit!
