Baldur's Gate 3 is being touted as game of the year for 2023 and those claims are completely justified. It is a typical RPG adventure quest fighting game set in a high fantasy medieval setting. It's not an unchartered genre, but the way Baldur's Gate tells its story is entertaining and memorable. The story line of the game entices you right from the start and holds your attention throughout the progression of the game. There's a lot to praise Larian for because the graphic design, the plot, the combat design, the diverse character builds, the origin character story lines, the music score, the absence of micro-transactions, the freedom of choice, the modding capabilities and the ability to play co-op with friends are all aspects of the game I enjoy. Not to mention how receptive the developers over at Larian have been towards constructive criticism, Many of the patches take note of player feedback and promptly address player concerns, wants and needs. If other game companies ran their games the way Larian runs theirs, there might be competition for Game of the Year but right now nearly every person who buys the game have nothing but praise for how well made it is.

That being said, it isn't all perfect though. Baldur's Gate 3 is a turn based combat game, so action junkie players may find it to be too "slow and boring" for their tastes. There is also the problem with the camera jankiness; sometimes the camera can go where you don't want it to go or it can get "stuck" at times. Generally double clicking a character's portrait fixes this but it is my biggest gripe about the game. And the other major complaint I have is that the end game isn't nearly as polished as the beginning stages. So in the end game you will see character models clipping through clothing, less variability in dialogue choices, and the occasional bug here and there but as mentioned earlier Larian has been prompt at fixes any bugs players report. As a game it starts off very strong and it isn't until the very end where it starts to falter ever so slightly. But compared to all the other modern games coming out right now that is a very slight fault. It isn't perfect but it is damn near close to being perfect and should you enjoy these types of games or you're on the fence about it, it is a game that you will most likely enjoy and get plenty of hours of enjoyment from.

I highly recommend this game and hope it wins game of the year because it deserves the recognition.
