Absolutely love this game. I was huge in to Minecraft for many years and never could find anything to fill that void of wanting a game I could simply "live and exist in" without all the grinding and demands. No Man's Sky completely fills that void and is the only game I have found to do that thus far. There is no pressure to compete with others or complete missions, nor a need for combat.. unless I want to. I can explore for hours on end and never run out of finding new things. Yes, there are a few bugs. But the devs have really been working hard to fix them and still manage time to bring us new content regularly, and I can not express how pleased I am that there are no hidden fees, no DLC to buy, and no item malls. Once you buy the game, all the content is yours free of charge. I can not say thank you enough for giving me a stress free, relaxing game to hang out in, the option to play with friends or alone, and all the excitement I can handle any time I'm ready for it. THANK YOU NO MAN'S SKY! 100% recommend to all my friends. By the way, My 6 year old grand-daughter loves creative mode. <3 You guys are amazing. Please keep developing for years to come. Your community has tons of ideas. Let them inspire you. ^.^

This game may look like a minecraft rip off, but it isn't. Nicer graphics in some ways, non-block shaped mobs and players, ability to rotate blocks manually by holding a key down, and constant content and support put this game in the running for one of the best voxel sandbox games out there to day. You can play the game entirely for free with out ever really needing to upgrade. You don't have to buy a server to host your games to play with friends either. Many worlds are open to the public, which allows for you to make new friends as well as bring your own. New content is pretty common. It isn't hard to find people who are willing to make you premium items if you decide not to go pro. A quick trip to community forums, or to a public world, will usually get you what you need.
So lets take a look at the history of Creativerse.
These articles are older, but theres a lot of interesting stuff here. For example:

There is lots more to be found. A quick search on Google will reveal a lot.
So when you're sitting there thinking that Creativerse is relatively new and just getting a good foot hold, you're only partly right. These guys were already well weathered game writers with games that were hits.They had a lot of donations rolling in from several places too, and we're not talking about small time pocket change.
So why do they use Unity to build thier game? If they have so many big programmers running the shots, why use a shortcut program instead of just doing the legwork and coding it thierselves? I just can not say. I have not been impressed with the recent updates. The texture packs have even been crooked on some of the blocks so that the patterns do not line up. This recent update was suppose to help fix lag spikes, glitches, and crashes. But I am afraid the only thing it has honestly done is anger a lot of 32 bit users who paid to play as pro and invested money in block packs but can no longer play the game until they upgrade their systems. Playful's response to this has been less than kind and a bit of a run around. Instead they are ramping up the game saying lots of things about how exciting the new updates to come are. If anything, they have great public relations, in a political-type manner.
A lot of people were really excited about the new block packs released, and it was a huge move in the devs favor to make sure those are free blocks and not some pack that would cost the players even more money. But was this just another hook to keep the players they have in the game?
This most recent game update also added a lot of new 'sprites' to the arc sign index. These sprites are tiny pictures that can be displayed simply by typing in the proper code. Cute features that do not require you to spend hours hunting for or creating your own designs with code.
However if you look behind the scenes, you will see that Entuland (a fellow gamer) has been advertising a coding program he has been developing that has recently made a hit in the Creativerse workshop by allowing pictures to be put in to the game. While this is nothing new to those that knew how to code, it was advertised and made aware of by Entuland and his friends, and is quickly growing in popularity and he makes regular updates and improvements to his sign creator promising to find work arounds as the game changes. Lets hope he gets the credit he deserves.

The recent blunders and near riots started during the judging of thier last promotional contest, and their quick ban and deletes in the forums when people tried to question it, one has to wonder if Entuland will even be mentioned when or if something is developed, or if he will be brushed aside once his usefulness is used up just so they can chase the next shiny idea. Its not like Playful doesn't have the money to make the game bigger with investors making 25 million dollar donations to Playful towards game development. It is often enough to make the blood boil.
At the same time, the game will charm and lure you right back in. Its fun, and for the most part it is free, with lots of carrots dangled in front of you to tempt you to buy in to the game. Once that investment is made, it is very hard to step away. Plus if you add to it the fact that it was made simple to play with others, which was always a serious drawback in other sandbox voxel games, it makes it even harder to leave behind your friends to play something else.
The final nail that drives players in to staying is the commitment to their own work. Many players are stuck in this game because they have spent hours building elaborately detailed,epic builds that took hours of farming resources just to come up with the materials to build them.
The whole thing leaves the bitter taste in my mouth. Its like being taken on an expensive date somewhere, only to discover you don't really like the person paying the bill very much, but feeling obligated to let him in for a night cap and knowing he's going to expect a whole lot more than tea.
It has all the elements there that keep people's attention and just enough new content being added to keep them inspired. But will all the shiny new blocks and features be enough to counter all the lag spikes, crashes, and bad judgement calls?

My final rating, for now it gets a thumbs up. But if I could give it stars, I would only give it a 3 of 5 at best. The game play is laggy. There are lots of glitches and crashes. Support is decent, but could use work. Game dev involvement is there, but on a very biased level almost to the point of being corrupt. Moderators can be pretty trigger happy in forums banning people for politely asking questions and removing posts that shine a bad light on the game no matter how nicely its said, while others run rampant and flame the forums. There is a lot of pay-to-play content and not enough free content added on a regular basis making it really tempting to buy in to the game and obligating you to want to stay once you do. Its only real saving grace is the player community and the ability to play with others on self created worlds, and the ability to customize those worlds somewhat.
Ultamately, its best not to go in to the game blind. Don't get over excited about contests that all too often seem biased. Think it over carefully before you go pro. Playing free is a good option until you really know the game well. Premium blocks are not hard to get, just ask someone and they will gladly pop in to your world to make things. But most importantly, have fun! This game can be amazing at times, and if things just improved a bit, it could easily be a 5 star. Its just not there yet.
