Not going to comment on anything that's going on in this thread about what you mentioned, I sent a private message to Playful to expose my take on this.
Thank y'all.
I'm pretty sure Brainsloth mentioned something in the stream. First, the Crop Circle didn't "win", it got one of the participation medals. And as far as I remember, Brainsloth said that they liked the simplistic "out of the box" approach, something totally different than dramatic robots or spaceships.
i just didn't want to enter because the time i had and i was so busy helping some of my mates and other people in there server crafting and building there own homes etc...
i had another great idea and it was something i couldn't blueprint :D so i didn't make it :D i know i could of took pics and all but wasn't to sure if i could of just done the pic with out a blueprint, but any how it was really fun idea i hope to see something new in the future :)

crop circles were unique. That simple that no one else thought about making it. That simple that it took guts to participate with it. Therefore that deserved to get mentioned.

It was not that I lost or that "my project" was not mentioned. That is not the case at all. _Our_ project got a ton of respose from the gaming community and I carry a ton of pride for that. We have been featured on countless live streams and people have really enjoyed coming by to see the build almost as much as I enjoyed giving the tours. The fact that we were not picked was not a blow to us.I honestly never expected to win the contest. We still won on a personal level though, because we had fun building this, and we got to make a lot of new friends in the process. We did so as a community project, as in everyone was building something together. Not just us building the SSV Elypsis, but many people who were doing other projects took time out to help each other on their builds as well. I had many people come to my world to make me blocks and help me with ideas and wiring problems. And I went to a lot of other worlds and did the same. It was a gaming community, and we all took part in it. That part was epic. Just knowing that we reached across the world and touched the lives of other artists and gamers to come together in one contest was phenominal.
But what many are failing to see here, and what I am getting ready to explain as carefully as I can, is that the community, as a whole, got a hard slap in the face with these choices.
Please believe me when I say, I tried to see things objectively. I went to the adventure they had set up. I cleared my mind and I walked through each and every build (several times). I have friends who had builds there too! It was good to see the entries and I know how proud each of them must be. I thought I would walk away with a different sense of why things went the way they did, a better understanding of those players, and that it would help me understand the choices. I took the time to walk slowly, flipping switches, paying attention to detail. Looking at originality and design. I marveled at many of the ideas and I was quite taken with some of the work.
But what I also saw was this...
Taken from the contest post: "The Galactic Chizzard Coop is all fired up, and Cosmo-Chizzard is ready to break the laws of space and time to bring you Cosmo-Chizzard’s Blueprint Contest! It’s no secret that Cosmo-Chizzard knows a thing or two about being a space cadet, and now’s time to show him...and the universe...what you’ve got! Here’s your challenge: create the most incredible sci-fi themed blueprint in the entire Creativerse!" .... "Your blueprint’s creativity and design should blow our minds straight into the future!"
There are 2 key things in this contest that were asked for and implied that some of the builds did not meet. SPACE and FUTURISTIC.
Now please, I am not "tearing down" anyone's builds here. Do not assume. I'm only trying to explain why so many are disappointed and I mean no disrespect to the builders that won.
While one might argue that aliens landed and made those crop circles, there is nothing futuristic about it, and honestly its not space themed. I can say the same about the Miru. Which I loved that Miru very much!
The same can be said about the Robots too. While there was some epic work done there, I doubt seriously the robots will move through space. I guess argueably they could have been on another planet, but still, do you see my point?
I thought the builds were brilliant and creative, but by Cosmo's own definition they did not fit the bill of what was asked for. There were a lot of entries who tried hard to stay in between the lines of what was defined for them, otherwise we would have seen many more exotic builds like those mentioned, ours included.
That shouldn't matter? It was only implied? Didn't that same mistake get made with the contest on 2 other counts? One being the blueprint quantiy and size, the other being the time which things were to be turned in. I think after two incidents you would have learned to make things more clear or to expect people to look more closely at what you were implying.
Secondly...
I strongly disagree with the choices, as do many people, which I understand that is our opinion on things which is ultamately out of our control, but they did not even look at a lot of the other builds like they said they did. This was an obvious random pick / rush job. At least I would hope it is just to save face here, because if there was actual thought put in to it, something went terribly wrong.
Why do I say that? Simple. If they wanted originality and funny, there were a number of other builds that fit that and still fit the futuristic space theme. For example the L.E.A.F.I. patrol and the crashed ship.
Plus if you walked through each and every build you would notice that some of them were full of ideas, but had no functionality. They were eye candy only. Not even lights were hooked to switches which is very simple to do. They didn't take to time to add in any function. One might say that they knew nothing about wiring, and that is fine, but then I knew nothing about wiring when we started too. Was that part of the contest? Some would say no. But part of being creative and wowing someone is using everything the game has to offer, including wiring a light switch instead of there just being switches that do nothing.
When you take a non-space themed, non-futuristic build and say "here's 5000 coins for being original" you have effectively slapped in the face every single player who built a space themed futuristic build. And the comment made by Juli saying they did not win, that was merely a participation medal... then by all rights every single player that entered is entitled that medal because we all participated! 5000 coins is not to be laughed at. Thats a prize! So yes, I was highly offended by that response.
Its wrong. Its not fair. And when the devs were called out NICELY to ask questions about why certain builds were chosen, they were ignored, or banned, or given political face value answers that did not make any of us feel any better about what just happened.
Captain_Hamilton's original post was not bashing, and it was not rude. It held several good points and questions about why they chose what they chose as well as some great advice about how to handle future contests and explaining the actions of the choices.
His post was removed and he was banned for "tearing down" someone's build, which he did not do. That kind of response is what has me discouraged and disappointed in how they handled this contest and the aftermath.
Its not that 'I' lost. Because no sir, I did not lose by a long shot. But it did suck the very life out of the game. Not just for me but for a number of people.
I can not tell you how many people suddenly added me to steam just to say how sorry they were we didn't get a mention, and how angry they were at the choices.
I know no less than a dozen people who have uninstalled the game and refuse to ever play it again. Was it a childish move? Maybe. But they were truly hurt, as am I. I can't really say I blame them.
I walked back through that forum and I looked at so many wonderful builds. Quite a few were not just eye candy. They were fully functional builds and deserved the mention. Like Astroboy's video game which was mind-blowingly amazing.
Super Soldier had a base that had tons of eye catching detail and fuctionality!
What happen to the 4 star rated Avatar Alice build that everyone was raving about
or the Infinity cube? Yet people say those were just a popularity thing? I think not. Builds are popular for a reason. Steam gives those stars by the shear number of people that clicked like and rated them up yes, but the builds speak for themselves. There was a definate reason why all those builds got those stars.
And don't even get me started on the one build that was downloaded from the workshop, rebuilt, tweaked, and uploaded as their own. I know that will step on a few toes to say it, but its just not fair to claim someone elses work!! I've seen people do that before (not pointing fingers) and win in other contests too. They were very creative with the changes they made, but in the end it was not really their own and the similarities can not be unseen. I am sorry but I can not support that.
I am not trying to win any personality contests by speaking my mind and saying things as I see them. I know people are going to get mad and butthurt about what I'm saying here. I may even get my first ban from forums as well. But this simply can not go unsaid. I do not speak as one voice alone.
I know a lot of poeple are going to say "she's just sore cause she lost". But that is not the case at all. This was a rush job. A political stunt to get people to buy blocks in my opinion now. If there had been any thought put in to the choices I would have tipped my hat and walked away with a damn fine ship in my corner. But since I could not get any answers or proper responses, I can't see this as anything else that a sham.
WE ALL, as a whole creativerse community, deserved better judgement.
I slept on it, what time I could sleep. I didn't make any knee jerk comments in forums. I thought this over carefully. I tried to give it time to just let my blood pressure come down and not be so hurt and angry. My proverbial counting to 10 time out is over. I am still mad, hurt and disappointed, despite a hard effort to act my age and be an adult over this. Had I gotten a proper response from Brainsloth, or any of the devs, in the time alloted in my request, I probably would not have felt so bad. But He was online, making posts one after another, both before and after my posts, and never acknowledged me.
Whats worse is the fact that I have had to constantly screenshot forums just to keep track of everything that is going on due to all the deleting done.
I am not too proud to say I am an absolute emotional wreck over this because it defines everything I have ever stood against in society as a whole.
We got manhandled. There were no explainations or apologies. I doubt I will ever participate in one of these contests again to find out if they learned how to be fair.
I came to Creativerse because I felt like Minecraft was a sell out and that they didn't care anything about the players anymore. I thought that Creativerse was involved with the community and trying to bring us together and communicate with us, so I spent money and supported them. Money I honestly should not have been spending here because we really don't have much to spare. Add to that, I brought my friends (which was a large number because I used to run a large minecraft server). Many of them bought pro and blocks as well. It would not have taken anything for someone to pull me aside and speak with me adult to adult before I had a chance to sit and stew on it. BrainSloth had time to address people in forums, he could have spoken to me, or even addressed me there. I even attempted to add him and keep this private, and invited him to my world so that adding him would not impose. I waited 3 hours. He never came, all the while he was posting in forums, and I expected no less.
So it stings really bad right now and it makes me sick to think that I represented these people at Playful just for them to let us down. Basically my hero turned out to be a con artist. I'm not going to get over that any time soon.
I don't want anyone to change the result. The damage is done. I just want answers and quite possibly a heart-felt appology, not just for myself, but for every person out there who has been following these forums and refusing to say anything because they were afraid to be banned too.
However, at this point, the reality of that comes down to this. Life is not fair. People will not treat you with respect if they do not know you. Its only a game will be a common response. And nothing can be done about what has happened (even though a lot can be done, it just won't be). This post will most likely be over looked because it was too long, or removed because it offended someone. And I will probably be silenced (here).
If you don't like that reality, then prove me wrong and do something differnt.
I have offically said my peice.
My hats off to the winners. I apologize for any hurt feelings toward your builds. They were interesting and amusing at the very least.
The Gaming Granny,
Caideenah
