Cyberpunk is an ambitious game that bit off far more than it could chew. I’ve been enjoying the game since launch with a playtime of about 149 hours for one playthrough with two endings. Each major patch has taken this game one step closer to finally becoming amazing with the ongoing bug fixes, optimizations, art asset updates, etc.... but there are still quite a few steps for CDPR to take.

The game’s visuals are absolutely disgusting (in the good way) with RTX. It’s to the point that some vistas can make me confused about what I’m seeing in terms of realism. Thankfully, slicing someone’s limbs off with Mantis Blades popping out of my cyber arms brings me back to the reality of the unreality. If you have the hardware, bump it all up and enjoy crazy good reflections and shadows.

I found the gameplay to be enjoyable due to how I deliberately went out of my way to just try everything. I did stealth. I did murder. I did stealthy murder. I made myself a hacker god, causing my foes to lose their sight or lose control of their minds or even just cause their internal systems to shut down. I became a cyber samurai. I used non-lethal melee weapons to knock people out. I used pistols, anti-material rifles, tech weapons that can charge up their shots, Smart weapons that have homing bullets, all the arm attachments, shotguns, assault rifles, and more. I had quite a lot of fun trying out different approaches to the situations the game throws at you or makes available.

I would highly recommend not limiting yourself to your comfort weapons/powers. Keep them close, of course, but try out different things or you’ll find the game to start to become repetitive if you use the same strategies every single time and it’s potentially a very long game if you decide to go for all the side-quests, gigs, explore the world in general, and engage with the random gang violence.

The story seems to be pretty good. Not all endings are equal though when it comes to outcome satisfaction. Many of the characters are fantastic and have performances that make the world more engrossing. I want more.

Currently, there’s no New Game +. You can go poke around and finish the other endings depending on what’s available to you on your playthrough and collect the legendary items specific to each one, but you might not even be able to keep the unique items you’ve earned or found because they’ll just randomly disappear on a post-ending save load playthrough.

Yes, the game is still very buggy. They’ve fixed hundreds of bugs at this point and it’s still buggy, especially with its physics and AI behavior. Even the two endings I’ve achieved had their own special kind of bugs with version 1.2, but I can only see the game becoming better over time. The game is worth its full price after 1.3 or 1.4 depending on what’s accomplished. Otherwise wait for a sale because the game can still be a gamble for some rigs. If you can overpower the game, do it.

In time, I hope to revisit Cyberpunk 2077 after it completes its journey to reach its full potential. Hopefully.
