You know carnival? Well, this is a Carnival Battlefield or something we can call the Fortnitefication of Battlefield. Tanks with red Christmas skins, Soldiers with yellow or pink weapon skins and gear. All you want here. And with it the game loses its last bit of seriousness. It’s just one big joke of a game when it comes to the scenario and the stage it plays on. Just seeing your colorful squad at the start and end of the round, reminds me constantly that I am fighting with a bunch of clowns, nothing else.

Also considering that most available and offered skins are quite unrealistic when it comes to a military camouflage, you don't have much of a choice. If you want a skin, you need to take the colorful Dice and EA throws at you. Or should I say put in your face? Because the next big pain point I had with the game is the season pass upsell; you really need to dismiss the ♥♥♥♥ upsell page each game launch before you can even play or access the game. That is a new level for a full price Battlefield.

Now you might wonder, why did he still play over 100 hours? Infact the run and gun play is still good. Graphics are OKish for a modern AAA game, though some elements feel like a downgrade to its predecessor. Then again the sound mix up is a blast! It’s just some much fun to play while rockets and grenades hitting around you and give you a never seen before bass on your ears. Generally I do believe the sound mix up is one of the big strengths of the game. Also if you are not into BF3 or BF4 anymore but still want a kind of modern warfare battlefield scenario, that is not tactical at all and has most of it (ground & air vehicles), then there is not much else than Battlefield 2042 out there.

I played the Open Beta and discarded the game. But Dice has done a jump to fix the game and bring it from a quite bad game to a OKish one if you play alone and a solid one if you play with friends or good team mates. Because, that essence Battlefield 2042 has luckily; this game is such much better with a good squad…
