This game is... something else.

It's a fighting game, BUT it's simultaneous turn-based, meaning each player has to predict moves while their opponent has to do the same, and there's no complicated inputs or frame-perfect traps you have to react to in real time. Everyone is on an equal field beyond their ability to predict, and even then, you can preview your opponent's entire kit by clicking on the moves in order to best pick your own move to try and counter them.

The base game is solid, gets fairly consistent updates and balance changes, and the dev tends to listen to community feedback, while still doing his own thing.

Meanwhile:
The Modding Community for this game is absolutely insane (In the best way possible). They have made just about every character you can imagine from any popular series; And if they haven't? They probably will at some point, since this game has very little difficulty in modding compared to any other game in it's genre (Though it still takes a lot of effort to make one).

There's more than a few niche series that have followings of people making characters based around them, and lots of popular games/shows have someone making at least one of their characters. Now, the quality does vary, but most people have a grasp of what is/isn't balanced, since there's a large community to test and give feedback to them.

For just $5, this game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steal. (And I believe the base game is even free on itchio if you don't mind not having customization or mods, and want to test it out a bit.)

Cannot recommend this game enough to people, and it's probably one of the few 'fighting games' I will ever enjoy playing.
