Now, you may be thingking, "1000+ hours? this guy must love this game!". Well, yes, but also no. I got into this game really late, in the last season of Witch Queen. From there I've experienced all this game has to offer, from end game content, such as raids, and have even solo'd some dungeons. So you would think I'd recommend this game. Absolutely not. This MMORPG Looter Shooter has reached esentially the end of it's lifespan, despite it continuing on, not to mention I was lucky and had 4+ friends who have more severe Stockholm Syndrome than I developed playing League of Legends, and a brother just as crazy, to help me through the extremely long learning process of this game. The story has been very up and down, with Lightfall being some of the worst, and Witch Queen being absolutely sublime. The seasonal model adopted after going free to play made it basically mandatory to buy the $100 deluxe edition of the yearly expansion to keep playing the game every year,

When it comes to why I don't recommend it, here's 4 take aways,
1. The game's main story ends next year
2. The amount of learning that is required to understand what is going on, and figure out how things work, not only in-game, but lore wise,
3. If you don't have friends who have played the game before, it's extremely hard to get into. (If it weren't for mine, I probably would have never picked up the game as much as i did)
4. Barrier to entry is way to expensive. the Free to play aspect is more like Free to try, and even then, it's not that much

Don't get me wrong, I really loved (some) of my time playing this game, and will look back on it with fond memories. The fact that I was able to clutch a raid encounter during contest mode will forever be ingrained in my brain, but it's very clear that the game is in a huge downward spiral, that will definitely not recover with Final Shape. It's been really disheartening to see my friends who played Destiny 1 almost 10 years ago, lose interest into a game they genuinely enjoyed. But that's just how it is sometimes, especially with Bungie it seems.

(The Final Shape Edit):
While the Final Shape was the perfect way to end the Light/Darkness Saga, Everything outside of the expansion is kinda lifeless so far, and not really worth playing through. If you still got friends pestering you to get into it, Still don't. It's not worth it, they're definitely gonna quit the game soon, so just give it time. I myself will probably drop it after this first episode.
